How to Identify Authentic ONO Pods and Where to Find the Anti-Counterfeit Code

Recently, a lot of ONO fans have been asking me how to tell whether ONO e-cigarette pods are authentic, so today I’m answering that question for everyone.

ONO e-cigarettes were founded by Luo Yonghao and endorsed by Edison Chen, and they are fundamentally different from RELX e-cigarettes.

All RELX e-cigarettes are manufactured by third-party factories. Combined with RELX’s huge user base, counterfeiters naturally targeted the brand. Production lines are easy to find, and QR codes can be recycled or bought, so the production cost is low and the profit margin is huge. This is also one of the reasons why there are so many compatible RELX products on the market.

ONO e-cigarettes are a rising brand. In addition, they use their own production lines, and their user base is not as large as RELX’s. Whether it’s factory outsourcing or the anti-counterfeit code process, both are harder to handle, so the cost of counterfeiting goes up significantly. Naturally, counterfeiters are not very interested in such a newer brand, so there are basically no fake ONO devices or pods on the market.

Some people who bought ONO e-cigarettes and pods online noticed that the code had been scratched off. In fact, what was scratched off was not the anti-counterfeit code, but the cross-region distribution tracking code.

To control market pricing, the ONO brand places anti-diversion codes on ONO pod boxes. If a store or distributor is caught selling pods at low prices, they can face very heavy fines—not just fines, but possibly even suspension of supply. That is why the diversion code is often scratched off.

As for ONO pods without codes or anti-counterfeit labels, some distributors remove them and then rewrap the box in plastic to avoid penalties from the brand, while also preserving the customer experience and the product’s appearance.
