Overseas Media Review: Hands-On with the Innokin DV Pod Device

The DV pod device is the latest mouth-to-lung product from Innokin, marking the company's second pod device after the EQ. Innokin has a well-established product line in mouth-to-lung devices—Zenith is an excellent mouth-to-lung atomizer, Ares has a large fan base, and the Prism series is known for its affordability and reliable quality. Most importantly, the EQ pod is widely regarded as one of the best mouth-to-lung devices available.

Compared to the EQ, the DV pod offers a richer feature set, equipped with a new coil system and four adjustable output power levels. But can this be a reason for it to be recommended again? Let's explore together.

Innokin interprets DV as Daily Vape, and the craftsmanship of the product shows that the DV pod is a very "Innokin" product, appearing more expensive than its actual price. The DV pod seems to be made with some metal materials, giving it a certain weight. When the pod is filled with e-liquid, the DV pod weighs about 65g, compared to the EQ pod's weight of about 56g and SMOK's Nord pod at around 79g. Although the DV pod looks shorter than the other two devices and is more compact in reality than in pictures, it is still thicker than typical pod devices.

The DV pod has a perfect hand feel, with the button design positioned very comfortably. The power adjustment button slightly protrudes from the surface, making it easy to find without looking while in use. The pod has a 2.8ml e-liquid capacity and comes with two spare pods in the package. The pods do not use a magnetic attachment design, but this is not a significant issue. The color of the pod is somewhat dark, making it difficult for users to clearly see the remaining e-liquid level. The LED light at the bottom of the pod cannot be turned off and lights up automatically with each puff, but fortunately, the brightness is not too high.

Refilling the pod is very simple—users just need to open the rubber plug at the bottom of the pod to refill. I'm not sure why the DV pod does not use the Twist System design found in the EQ, but the sealing of the pod is not an issue, even when using e-liquids with lower PG content. After installing the pod on the device, it can be used normally after sitting for five minutes. The DV pod features both a fire button and an air switch design, allowing users to choose their preferred method of use. Setting the power is also very simple—users just need to hold the adjustment button next to the logo, and the pod will automatically cycle through four different output power levels.

I initially used a new e-liquid to test the pod's performance, and there were no issues during the process. When I heard that the DV pod might have a plastic taste, I tested it again with a familiar e-liquid, and I did notice some plastic flavor, but after a while, this plastic taste disappeared—it seems that it takes at least one pod of e-liquid for the plastic taste to fade. When I tested another new pod with the same e-liquid, there was no plastic taste. So far, I cannot conduct more tests, but I can at least confirm that one of the three pods had a plastic taste; fortunately, this plastic taste does not persist.

On the performance side, the DV pod still delivers a good experience, utilizing PLEX3D technology, which is also used in the iSub atomizer and the coils in the Plexar kit. I'm not sure if PLEX3D performs significantly differently from other mesh coils, but its performance on the iSub is indeed impressive. I tested e-liquids with VG content ranging from 50% to 70% in the DV pod. When using low VG e-liquids, there were some very slight leakage issues, possibly due to a small amount of e-liquid leaking from the rubber plug overnight. When I reused a pod that had been sitting for a few days, there was also some e-liquid overflow in the airway, but this issue disappeared after a few puffs at 15W power. #p#分页标题#e#

The DV pod provides users with a stable output experience, meaning that players can enjoy a consistent experience until the battery runs out. Although the pod cannot adjust airflow, the default airflow is a very standard mouth-to-lung resistance, making it hard to find any drawbacks. The DV pod has a tight and smooth draw, but compared to the EQ, it feels a bit looser. The air switch works normally, but using the fire button provides a warmer vape experience—even without preheating before inhaling, the result is the same. Overall, I prefer to set the DV pod's output power to 14W or 15W; 13W is also acceptable, but at 12W, paired with salt e-liquids, it is hard to leave a deep impression.

The DV pod has a built-in 500mAh battery, which requires recharging after using half a pod of e-liquid when fully charged. If you plan to use the DV pod as your primary device, you will inevitably need to charge it at least once during the day, regardless of your usage frequency. Fortunately, the DV pod supports Pass-Thru charging functionality.

The fire button can also be used to display the remaining battery life; it shows green when fully charged, yellow at half charge, and red when low. When the battery indicator is red, users can still use it for a short while, but don't expect it to last too long.

The USB port is located at the bottom of the device, which is actually very practical—when the device is charging, it lies flat on the table, providing stability. When charging, the battery indicator light is red, and it turns green when fully charged. After the indicator light turns green, it will turn off after another 10-15 minutes, with a full charging time of about 1 hour.

So, is the DV pod worth recommending? If I had never experienced that "plastic" taste in the pod, I would auto-recommend this device. Although the DV pod's battery life is weak, this is a necessary trade-off for its compact and portable design. The surface of the device is smooth, and both the appearance and craftsmanship are impeccable. After refilling the pod one or two times, the overall experience of the device will be even better. I believe Innokin has the capability to resolve the "plastic" taste issue, but until this problem is thoroughly addressed, I cannot confidently recommend it to users.
