Can you vape on a plane? On July 28, Beijing Headlines reported that the Capital Airport Public Security Bureau recently received multiple reports of electronic cigarette use on flights and has penalized the relevant offenders according to the law.

On July 10, 2021, a passenger was caught vaping in the cabin of a departing flight, and the crew immediately stopped him and called the police. Upon arrival, the police learned that the individual, Mr. Li, had developed a nicotine craving due to a long wait at the airport and could not resist taking a puff of his electronic cigarette while waiting for takeoff. After being reminded by the staff, Mr. Li immediately stopped vaping.

On July 13, 2021, the Capital Airport Public Security Bureau received a report stating that a man was vaping on a flight to Beijing. After investigation, the police found that Mr. Lu had a craving and secretly took out his electronic cigarette while the plane was taxiing. The smoke he exhaled was noticed by the security personnel, who immediately intervened.
According to the Public Security Administration Punishment Law of the People's Republic of China, the Capital Airport Public Security Bureau imposed administrative penalties on both individuals.

Reminder: As early as 2006, the Civil Aviation Administration issued a notice prohibiting the use of electronic cigarettes on airplanes, clarifying the necessity of not vaping in the cabin or airport control areas. The smoke produced by electronic cigarettes can easily trigger smoke alarms on the plane, causing panic among passengers and even leading to serious consequences such as flight delays. Moreover, electronic cigarettes contain batteries, e-liquids, and other flammable and explosive materials, posing safety hazards such as battery explosions and e-liquid leakage. If a fire occurs, it can lead to immeasurable serious consequences.

Aviation safety is no small matter. With summer approaching, the Capital Airport police remind passengers to comply with relevant laws and regulations during flights and strictly prohibit vaping in the cabin and airport control areas. Don't take chances. The Capital Airport Public Security Bureau will continue to crack down on various illegal activities that endanger civil aviation safety.
