POOLAN Pod System Review Report

Appearance:

This time, I received the POOLAN ZIRCON gemstone refillable pod kit in a beautiful green color. The packaging box is one of the most elegant I have seen; removing the foam transforms it into a high-end storage box.

The device features an aluminum alloy frame with zircon ceramic panels, giving it a smooth and warm feel in hand. Additionally, when removing the pod, you can see that the frame is quite thick, made with very solid materials, providing a heavy and reassuring feel. The panel material and surface coating lean towards a stable and mature business style. Furthermore, the POOLAN device has an IP54-rated nano-coating for water resistance and a child lock function (activated by inserting and removing the pod five times within three seconds). 【Single rating: 9/10】

Flavor reproduction and throat hit:

The kit comes with three pods: classic tobacco, refreshing mint, and Tieguanyin tea flavor. In terms of flavor configuration, the first two tobacco and mint flavors are quite common, but the inclusion of a tea flavor is a first for me, which is quite interesting. The pod has a 2ml e-liquid capacity, with a ceramic core heating element and a resistance of 1.1 ohms, outputting 5.7 watts. Notably, the pod storage box features a modular design, allowing multiple boxes to be assembled together, resembling building with LEGO blocks.

Tieguanyin tea: Nicotine content is 3%, with a moderate throat hit. The flavor features a rich jasmine and orchid aroma, with the initial notes leaning towards a light green tea, transitioning to the rich flavor of oolong tea in the mid to late palate. The floral and tea flavors complement each other without interference, creating a strong sense of layering. Summer green mango: Nicotine content is 3%, with a moderate throat hit. Upon opening the pod packaging, I immediately noticed a strong creamy aroma, and the flavor indeed resembles a mango milkshake, with the mango leaning towards green mango chunks, while the main body is creamy cheese. Despite the rich creaminess and the sweetness of the mango, the POOLAN flavor does not feel cloying at all; instead, it is very smooth and rich, showcasing excellent blending skills. Grape: This flavor has not yet been released and is currently in experimental testing. I got to try it first. Nicotine content is 3%, with a moderate throat hit. It focuses on reproducing the aroma of grape skins, giving me the impression of freshly picked Jingzao green grapes still covered in morning dew, with a hint of rose aroma. Refreshing watermelon: Nicotine content is 3%, with a moderate throat hit. The flavor consistently delivers a watermelon juice taste, with relatively low sweetness. Continuous puffs accumulate to a very comfortable experience. Most watermelon flavors on the market are bubblegum-like, which can feel lacking in true watermelon flavor. This flavor clearly focuses on watermelon juice, eliminating any unnecessary flavors, maximizing the sensation of watermelon juice flowing in the mouth, with a faint initial aroma of watermelon rind quickly transitioning to the sweet aroma of watermelon juice, making it quite enjoyable. 【Flavor rating: 8.5/10]

White peach oolong: Nicotine content is 3%, with a moderate throat hit. This tea flavor is very clearly oolong tea, paired with the sweetness of white peach flesh. The two flavors complement each other, with the only downside being that continuous puffs of the oolong tea part can feel a bit dry. Lemon ice orange: Nicotine content is 3%, with a moderate throat hit. The overall tone is light, with a moderate fizziness, and the style is quite reminiscent of orange soda, with a slight lemongrass flavor in the finish. Green bean smoothie: Nicotine content is 3%, with a moderate throat hit. This flavor is quite common, clearly showcasing a green bean dessert style, eliminating the inherent beaniness of the plant. The performance is standard, slightly above average. Classic tobacco: Nicotine content is 3%, with a strong throat hit. The flavor features the taste of Chinese roasted tobacco, with lightly roasted tobacco leaves and a faint charred aroma. Unlike previous Chinese roasted tobacco flavors, it completely eliminates the taste of tar. It does not lean towards buttery or nutty tobacco flavors, but is purely tobacco. Condensation:

The correct inhalation posture is very important; do not inhale while lying down, sideways, or upside down. This is common knowledge for using small devices. POOLAN uses a side airflow design for the oil chamber, which is quite large, and I have not encountered any condensation issues while inhaling. 【Single rating: 10/10]

Dry hits:

Battery life:

The battery capacity is 420mAh, using a Type-C charging interface. The maximum charging current is 1.8A, and the manufacturer claims that it can be fully charged in 15 minutes. 【Single rating: 9/10]

Overall evaluation:

The POOLAN device embodies a simple and mature style, with a reassuring weight that appeals to me. Having seen the market trends, a bit of business style is a refreshing change in aesthetics. In terms of flavor, most of the blended flavors are quite distinctive, with an overall fresh and natural tone, and relatively low sweetness. The continuity of the flavor is also well maintained. It is worth mentioning that after finishing about half a pod, I can noticeably feel the e-liquid oxidizing from repeated heating, observing the color of the e-liquid darkening and the flavor changing somewhat. This could significantly affect the experience for users with strict flavor requirements. I believe that larger pod capacities are not always better; repeated heating and oxidation of e-liquid, condensation backflow heating, and flavor fatigue can all lead to subjective dissatisfaction. Manufacturers need to work on balancing extreme flavor and cost-effectiveness to find a compromise. 【Overall rating: 8/10]
