Top Three E-Cigarette Brands in China: RELX, Moti, and YOOZ Product Comparison Review

More and more people are now using e-cigarettes, and the wide variety of brands can easily overwhelm beginners. There are too many brands of uneven quality, so newcomers can easily end up with disappointing products. Since these are products you inhale, major brands generally offer better quality and safety assurance. So here we selected the current top three brands—RELX, MOTI, and YOOZ—and conducted a comparison review of their entry-level and advanced products.

It is clear that in terms of price, build quality, and battery life, MOTI GO offers the best value for money. It is the cheapest, yet gives you the most. At just 8.8 yuan and with a metal body, it easily outclasses the other two. RELX comes next, while YOOZ is the most basic. Next are the advanced products. Their biggest advantage is that they use the same pods as the entry-level models, so if you want better features and a better overall experience, you can choose the corresponding advanced model for long-term use, while keeping the entry-level device as a backup. From left to right, they are MOTI C, RELX 5th Generation, and YOOZ 2nd Generation.

In terms of price, RELX is the most expensive, costing 20 yuan more than MOTI and YOOZ. That may simply reflect its brand premium, since it is the best-known brand in China.Looking at the key selling points, all three share three common features: battery level indication, leak resistance, and a vibration reminder after 15 puffs. However, MOTI offers two additional functions: anti-backflow protection and Surge Mode, giving it a stronger technological edge and a better user experience.
Below is a brief introduction to these two MOTI features.
Anti-backflow function: when you inhale at an angle beyond horizontal, the device will not produce vapor. For example, if you lie in bed and vape upside down, the e-liquid will not flow into the heating coil. Otherwise, the coil could end up in a dry-burn state, similar to heating a dry pan, which creates a burnt taste and can affect the lifespan of the coil. Even if e-liquid flows back in later, burnt flavor may still occur. However, MOTI devices include this anti-backflow mechanism, so the heating coil will not activate during reverse-angle inhalation, providing excellent protection for the coil.
Surge Mode: the MOTI device contains an MCU (microcontroller unit) for power adjustment. Through MCU chip control, it detects pod insertion and removal and adjusts power output accordingly. The chip recognizes cold starts and delivers a high-power transient boost, enabling the concept of instant strong vapor on the first puff. The output power curve was modeled using 2 million valid MOTI S puff data points to create a high-quality power curve. Compared with standard mode, it increases power to atomize the e-liquid more effectively, delivering finer vapor particles and more faithful flavor reproduction.
The above is an introduction to the current products from the three major brands, from entry-level to advanced. In terms of features, RELX and YOOZ products are becoming increasingly similar, while MOTI products feel more technology-driven. As for price, the differences are not large. That said, within the MOTI lineup, I personally prefer another flagship product, the MOTI Slite (shown below).
