How Many Vape Pods a Day Counts as Heavy Use?
It depends on how you calculate it and what you compare it to.
I have been a heavy smoker for nearly 20 years, maintaining an average of just over two packs a day for about seven years before switching to vaping six months ago.
I usually smoke brands that are around 20 mg.
When it comes to traditional cigarettes, many people consider a pack a day to be heavy. However, the strength of the cigarettes matters; for example, smoking a lighter brand like Zhongnanhai 520 compared to a stronger one like Hongta Red River can make a difference. It’s quite normal for someone who smokes a pack of the stronger brand to need a pack and a half of the lighter brand to feel satisfied. Generally, most people agree that smoking more than a pack of regular cigarettes is considered heavy.
Now, let's talk about vaping.
(Here are the three vape devices I currently use)

As for the vape pods, they typically contain 3% nicotine and are 2ML in size. Other brands or different generations of the same brand have similar capacities and nicotine levels.
People who don’t have a strong nicotine addiction or who are new to smoking often don’t realize that everyone has different smoking habits. A heavy smoker might take deep puffs, while someone with a lighter addiction might just puff it in their mouth and blow it out for show. These two methods are fundamentally different.
After switching from two packs of cigarettes to one pod of e-cigarettes a day, this amount is still somewhat controlled. After all, vaping is smoother and some flavors are very sweet and pleasant. When I first switched to vaping, it felt less satisfying and didn’t curb my cravings.
Additionally, e-cigarettes don’t require ignition; they heat the e-liquid only when inhaled, so there’s no gradual consumption like with traditional cigarettes. Based on my long experience as a heavy smoker, I can say that a 2ML pod does not equate to the 2-3 packs of cigarettes that manufacturers claim. A normal pack of cigarettes is about one and a half to two packs, with a difference of about 3 or 4 cigarettes.

To sum up, most people consider smoking more than a pack a day to be heavy. For someone with a strong addiction, using less than one pod every two days could be considered heavy. Ultimately, it depends on the reference point for what is considered 'more' or 'less.' For someone like me, who originally had a high consumption level, one pod a day doesn’t seem excessive.
Lastly, it’s best not to touch e-cigarettes at all; if you can quit, you should. They are not beneficial to your health and only add to your expenses. If you calculate how much money you’ve spent on smoking over the years, you could have bought something useful instead. Turning money into smoke that dissipates is not a good deal, is it?
