YOOZ has been rolling out new products nonstop lately. While launching the 9.9-yuan Mini and the ZERO 2, both pod-compatible devices, YOOZ has also further expanded its pod lineup by releasing five new flavors all at once this month.

The new flavors are: Green Apple Paradise, Blackcurrant Blueberry, Strawberry Milkshake, Rock Cola, and White Peach Soda.

According to YOOZ, the purpose of launching five new flavors in one go is to maintain YOOZ’s flavor advantage and provide consumers with more options.

Blue Hole got its hands on four of the new flavors—excluding White Peach Soda—along with YOOZ’s previous bestselling flavor, Icy Grape Wine, and is bringing you an unboxing and review.

About the Company

YOOZ is a vaping brand founded in early 2019 by Cai Yuedong, the founder of the former self-media brand Tongdao Dashu. Cai previously revealed that YOOZ currently sells over one million pods per month, has more than 400 franchised stores and thousands of distribution points, and raised over RMB 200 million in total financing in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, YOOZ still maintained growth and achieved profitability for two consecutive months.

In our previous article, Blue Hole mentioned that YOOZ has always been relatively cautious in iterating its pod-compatible device lineup because it adheres to a product philosophy of “investing heavily in building a single standout vaping product rather than launching many products.” However, what cannot be ignored is that YOOZ has consistently spared no effort in flavor R&D and has remained at the forefront of the industry.

Among mainstream vaping brands currently on the market, the number of pod flavors usually ranges from a dozen to around twenty. With these five newly launched options, YOOZ now has a total of 28 flavors, making its lineup exceptionally rich. As Cai Yuedong previously said, “The device is like a lighter; the pods are the foundation for expanding the user base.”

Of course, focusing only on quantity and not quality has never been YOOZ’s style. YOOZ also put a great deal of effort into launching these new flavors and conducted extensive sample research in the early stage.

According to YOOZ, hundreds of people participated in internal testing for each flavor. Green Apple and Blackcurrant received extremely high approval, with only two people saying they did not like them, and purchase intent reached 98.2%, showing signs of potentially surpassing the bestselling Icy Grape Wine. After optimization, the cola flavor’s purchase intent rose to 92.86%, while the other two flavors also saw major improvements in aroma, sweetness, throat hit, and other dimensions.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that YOOZ has shown clear preference and support for its specialty stores in the supply of the new flavors.

YOOZ stated that the first batch of the two new flavors, Strawberry Milkshake and Rock Cola, will be supplied exclusively to directly operated specialty stores, while other channels will not be supported for now. The pods use the McWell FEELM 3.0 ceramic coil, with average flavor accuracy at around 85%.

Icy Grape Wine: This is YOOZ’s best-selling pod and is said to be one of the best grape flavors on the market. It feels smooth and comfortable, with throat hit and satisfaction. The grape wine taste is very rich; the moment you open the package, you can already sense a slightly tipsy aroma. On the first inhale, you get the tart, slightly astringent taste of grape, followed by a touch of coolness. After vaporization, it turns into a rich red wine flavor. The overall taste is very full-bodied, and the flavor reproduction is excellent.

Green Apple Paradise: This is YOOZ’s key new flavor for July and is already available on the market. The original green apple flavor is reproduced quite well, at around 85%. On the first puff, the tartness and slight astringency of green apple come through nicely, with just a hint of sweetness. The cooling level is also fairly high, giving off a youthful, energetic vibe when inhaled. With continuous use, the apple flavor becomes slightly lighter.

Blackcurrant Blueberry: Blackcurrant is a small shrub fruit and is distinctly different from grape. It is generally used to make premium wines, and its flavor is typically sweet with a tart edge. Its appearance is similar to that of blueberries. These two fruits pair together without clashing; instead, they create a slight wine-like aroma. The sensation is smooth and comfortable, with throat hit and satisfaction. The flavor reproduction of both fruits is around 85%. The opening note on inhale is fruity tartness with a touch of sweetness, while the main tone after vaporization is a refreshing sourness. Rock Cola: This flavor has optimized away the original “herbal medicine” note often found in cola flavors, making the taste smoother and more comfortable, while still offering throat hit and satisfaction. Cola generally comes in two styles—Pepsi and Coca-Cola—and this flavor is a little less sweet, leaning more toward Pepsi. Flavor reproduction is around 80%. The first impression is like taking a sip of cola, with a very rich taste. After repeated puffs, the flavor becomes slightly lighter, but the cooling level is high, making it especially refreshing in summer. Take a puff while gaming, and it feels refreshing and energizing—perfect for turning the tables from a losing position.

Strawberry Milkshake: The sensation is even smoother and more comfortable, with throat hit and satisfaction. Both flavor elements are reproduced quite well, at around 85%. On inhale, the top note is a sweet milkshake taste; after vaporization, a rich strawberry fruit aroma emerges alongside lingering sweet milkshake notes. The two different flavor types are balanced very well, and both sweetness and cooling are just right, creating a very sweet and pleasant overall sensation. It also remains enjoyable over repeated use. Female users will probably like this flavor even more.

Blue Hole Observation: YOOZ Has Been the Most Active

With the rapid rollout this year of the 9.9-yuan pod device, the ZERO 2, and several new flavors all at once, YOOZ can be said to be one of the most active vaping brands this year. After taking the lead in creating high-traffic products to enter the entry-level pod market, it has also prompted many other companies to follow suit.

But the device is ultimately just a lighter; the real core lies in giving users freshness and a better experience through pod flavors and variety.
