China Smoking Health Hazard Report 2020 Released: More Than 300 Million Smokers in China
The 2020 China Smoking Health Hazard Report shows: "The number of smokers in China exceeds 300 million, with a smoking rate of 26.6% among individuals aged 15 and above, and the male smoking rate reaching 50.5%."

In the report released today by the National Health Commission and the WHO Representative Office in China, we can see that there is a huge "smoking group" in our country. However, research also indicates that over a million people die each year due to smoking-related causes. If effective action is not taken, it is estimated that by 2030, the number of deaths due to smoking will increase to 2 million annually; by 2050, it may rise to 3 million annually.

Cigarettes release 4,000 chemical substances when burned, of which 400 are harmful components, including carcinogens, making it easier for many smokers to ultimately lose their precious lives due to lung cancer.
"It is better to enjoy together than alone." Smokers may enjoy the pleasure brought by cigarettes, but the secondhand smoke they exhale, containing carcinogens, also harms many innocent people around them.

Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke are closely linked to four major chronic diseases: chronic respiratory diseases, malignant tumors, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. Many people may think of using electronic cigarettes, but the National Health Commission also has sufficient research data indicating that electronic cigarettes are not safe.
Everyone knows that smoking is a bad habit that affects both individual health and society. However, in reality, there are some long-term smokers who know how to "maintain" their health after smoking. Although the harm caused by smoking does not diminish, they still appear relatively "healthy".

Doing three things regularly can reduce lung damage.
Regular exercise
Many people know that life is in motion; regular exercise can enhance blood circulation, aid metabolism, and help the body expel harmful substances and toxins, thereby reducing the harm caused by cigarettes. Therefore, if a regular smoker loves to exercise, their lung capacity can be effectively improved, and their body will become stronger, thus reducing the degree of harm from harmful substances.

Breathing fresh air
People living in areas with good air quality, such as rural areas, will have healthier lungs. Regularly breathing fresh air can effectively expel metabolic waste and residual gases from the lungs, restoring lung elasticity. When working, lung capacity increases, which can effectively prevent lung diseases.
For those living in cities, the time spent breathing fresh air is relatively limited, but they can frequently visit parks and engage in outdoor activities, which not only provides effective exercise but also allows for the intake of a large amount of oxygen, making the lungs cleaner.

Good dietary habits
Smoking causes chronic damage to the body, so it is essential to develop good dietary habits to help reduce these harms. This includes eating regular meals at set times, avoiding overly spicy, stimulating, or greasy foods, and consuming more vegetables and fruits rich in dietary fiber and vitamins to help replenish nutrition and enhance disease resistance.

In addition, regular smokers should also develop a habit of regular health check-ups!
Every pack of cigarettes has a warning that smoking is harmful to health. For smokers, it is best to have regular check-ups to understand their health status.

To completely avoid the harm of cigarettes, the best way is to quit smoking promptly.
Because not everyone can be lucky enough to smoke and still maintain a healthy body, quitting smoking can be very difficult for smokers. Some may even experience symptoms such as fatigue, cough, sore throat, runny nose, and headaches when quitting, but these are actually signs that the body is working to recover.
Those who quit smoking should not worry too much; they can visit a hospital for treatment and use appropriate medications to alleviate discomfort symptoms after a doctor's diagnosis. For the sake of health, once you start quitting smoking, you must persevere until the end. After successfully quitting, you will find a significant improvement in your health status.
