YOOZ ZERO 2 Pod System Review: Overall Performance Up 60%, Launching in July
On June 22, news broke that following the launch of the budget-friendly YOOZ Mini pod system, YOOZ has recently made new moves in its product line, set to launch the upgraded version of the original ZERO pod system—the ZERO 2.

According to YOOZ, the ZERO 2 has undergone comprehensive optimization in craftsmanship and technology, with overall performance improved by 60% compared to the ZERO 1, making the product more mature and stable, enhancing consumer experience, and featuring a stylish gradient color design.
The ZERO 2 is expected to officially launch in early July and will be compatible with the ZERO 1 pods.
About the company
YOOZ was established in early 2019 by Cai Yuedong, the founder of the self-media brand Tongdao Dashu, and is known alongside brands like FLOW, LINX, and vvild as part of the popular e-cigarette trend.
Cai Yuedong previously revealed that YOOZ currently sells over a million pods monthly, has over 400 franchise stores, and thousands of distribution points, accumulating over 200 million yuan in financing in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, YOOZ maintained a growth trend and achieved profitability for two consecutive months.
In fact, as a well-known e-cigarette brand in the market, YOOZ's pod product line has been quite limited. Aside from the low-priced Mini launched at the end of April, there has only been the ZERO 1 since its inception, while other popular brands like FLOW, LINX, and vvild have at least two regular pod products. Moreover, YOOZ has remained relatively quiet in marketing, lacking memorable actions.
Logically, a company that started from the internet should understand the importance of continuously creating topics to expand brand awareness and capture user attention, but why has YOOZ been silent in this regard?
Those unaware might wonder, "Is YOOZ running low on funds?" "Is it about to give up?" "Does it lack R&D capabilities?" However, if you read the article released by Bluehole at the end of last month regarding YOOZ's roadshow, you might change your mind.
During the Q&A session, Cai Yuedong stated that YOOZ is currently in a healthy growth state, with solid financials, backed by excellent funds and top entrepreneurs. E-cigarettes are his only main business, and he has invested a lot of money and time into it. Last year, YOOZ conducted many practices in domestic and international markets, faced numerous setbacks, and spent more time refining the team and honing internal skills. They have also incurred many costs in supply chain and R&D, and the current product philosophy focuses on investing heavily in developing a single e-cigarette product rather than launching many products.

From the timeline of product launches, the Mini took eight months to develop and was launched at the end of April, while the ZERO 2 is set to launch in early July, with less than two months between them. This indicates that the development of the Mini and ZERO 2 was likely conducted simultaneously, requiring high reserves of both funds and technology.
It’s important to note that developing a single product requires countless iterations of revisions and summaries, let alone two products.
It seems YOOZ is both wearing the "internet celebrity" label while engaging in "technical work" like a tech-savvy individual.
It’s akin to the tank heroes in the game Honor of Kings, like Lian Po and Bai Qi, who appear clumsy but can transform into formidable warriors with just two attack items, playing a crucial role in team battles, often outshining assassins.
How did we end up talking about Honor of Kings...
Returning to the main topic, this is a review article, and I have received the YOOZ ZERO 2 for review. I believe many YOOZ users and distributors are eagerly anticipating this new product, especially as other brands continue to update their products while YOOZ has been relatively quiet, it’s finally time for them to upgrade their equipment.

Family photo of ZERO 2 series
The ZERO 2 series offers a variety of color options, with six colors available: light ink gray, twilight forest, dream Paris, romantic aurora, cherry blossom gold, and dreamy starry sky.
YOOZ has stated that aside from the light ink gray version sold as a standard set (1 device + 2 pods), the other five colors will initially be sold as single devices without pods, with sets to be released gradually.

Product appearance and optimization introduction
Front
Back
As the product has not yet officially launched, we received a sample without formal packaging, but that’s not a problem; the product is key.
The vape pen's color scheme is quite bright and fashionable, giving a refreshing first impression; the surface appears to have a frosted finish, but it feels very smooth to the touch and does not collect fingerprints.
The shape and size of the vape pen are identical to the first generation, with no other changes; the only way to distinguish them is through the color of the vape pen and the Type-C charging port at the bottom.
This aspect is somewhat unfriendly to consumers, as the upgraded version looks the same as the original, making it hard to show off.

Embedded magnetic pod slot
In terms of the pod slot, the ZERO 2 has optimized three structural aspects, significantly extending the lifespan of the vape pen:

First, the liquid storage tank has been enlarged. The storage tank in the first generation was relatively small and inconvenient to clean, which reduced the lifespan of the printed circuit board. The second generation has changed the sealing silicone structure to enlarge the storage tank, extending the lifespan of the printed circuit board.
Second, the mouthpiece has a leak-proof structure. According to YOOZ, during testing, the mouthpiece did not leak after being left still for 24 hours after liquid was dripped, and there was also no leakage under a 3Kpa negative pressure.
Third, the sealing effect of the silicone has been improved. The battery tube slot in the first generation had sharp edges, which could damage the sealing ring when inserting the battery holder, leading to condensation liquid flowing into the mainboard. The second generation's battery tube slot has been changed to a 45-degree angle, ensuring the integrity of the sealing ring when inserting the battery holder.
The airflow holes have also been optimized, changing from 1.15mm in the first generation to 0.7mm now, with the suction resistance adjusted to 600Pa-900Pa (flow rate 17.5 ML/S), providing a better inhalation experience.
The ZERO 2 adopts the now-popular Type-C charging port, solving the user’s frustration of never being able to plug it in correctly.
Additionally, YOOZ has stated that the USB connector shell is DIP-shaped, and the soldering method between the PCB board is plug-in soldering, which is highly durable and long-lasting.
The breathing light has also been upgraded. The first generation's breathing light was single-colored, while the second generation features three colors: red for battery <30%, green for 30%-60%, and white for >60%. The light gradually brightens over 1.6 seconds during use and gradually dims over 2 seconds after stopping use.
This is very useful in practice, effectively helping users grasp battery information and prepare for charging in advance.
In terms of battery life, the ZERO 2 is equipped with a 350mAh battery, the same as the first generation, which can generally ensure a day's use when fully charged; the official charging time is 40 minutes, and the actual measured time is 38 minutes, consistent with the official standard. (Note: The battery life of the vape pen is more related to individual inhalation frequency.)
As for the price, YOOZ has not disclosed it yet, so we can only guess.
However, one thing is certain: once the ZERO 2 officially launches, it will become YOOZ's main product, and the first generation will also start using some of the new processes from the ZERO 2.
Minors are prohibited from using e-cigarettes.
