Recently, I’ve seen a lot of reviews on Zhihu about different brands like RELX, MOTI, and YOOZ, and I couldn’t help but want to share my own experience. I’ve been using vaping devices for almost three years. Here are just a few of my personal opinions for your amusement and reference, haha!

The picture below shows some of the vaping devices I’ve used. From left to right are RELX 1st Gen, RELX 4th Gen, MOTI 1st Gen, and MOTI S LITE. (I’ve also used YOOZ and FLOW, but it’s been so long that I’ve already lost the devices, so there’s not much to say about them.)

First, let’s talk about RELX 1st Gen and MOTI 1st Gen, two of the most popular devices in the same compact vape category. RELX 1st Gen has received both praise and criticism. What impressed me most about it was the mung bean flavor, especially the first few puffs right after opening a new pod—it was simply amazing. Even though many new flavors came out later, mung bean remained my favorite. But after using it for a while, I noticed a problem: in the second half of the pod, the flavor became weaker and weaker, and by the last third or so, there was basically only a cooling sensation left, like winter now. That’s also why I moved on to MOTI 1st Gen. MOTI’s pods feel smoother than RELX’s, the atomization is more complete, and the vapor is finer. The flavor also changes in the latter half, but it’s a bit better than RELX. As for leakage, these two are about the same, though MOTI may be slightly better. In short, neither is as bad as many people say—don’t just repeat what others say and write them off.

After capitalizing on the hot market, RELX launched the 2nd Gen Alpha and 3rd Gen Lingdian one after another. I tried them in physical stores and thought they felt pretty good, but the pods were too expensive, so I didn’t buy in. Then RELX 4th Gen Infinity came out, and I went to try it in a store. Overall, it felt great. I tried the orange flavor at the time, and it was incredibly satisfying—just as surprising as the first time I tried mung bean. But after buying it, I was still disappointed. If leakage is only a minor annoyance, then the flavor changing in the latter half is the real pain point. After a few more puffs, you might even get a burnt taste. It’s really awful.

Now let’s talk about the excellent MOTI S LITE. I really can’t hide how much I love this one. The device has a nice weight and texture in the hand, and when I’m idle, I even like rolling it around in my hand.

For someone like me who has been bothered by pods changing flavor, MOTI S LITE felt like opening the door to a whole new world. The entire pod tastes rich from beginning to end—clean, full-bodied, not harsh on the throat, and without flavor distortion. The official claim is that it uses a variable-frequency chip, with output power following a curve to achieve an instant-draw effect. Even if we don’t fully understand the technical side, in actual use it really does feel extremely smooth, with no lag at all. You don’t have to pull hard like with RELX 1st Gen, RELX 4th Gen, or MOTI 1st Gen to get vapor. MOTI S LITE can be compared to the Apple of compact vaping devices: stable and smooth system performance.

In addition, MOTI S LITE has a little hidden feature—Boost Mode. Removing and reinserting the pod triggers it, increasing the device’s power and vapor production. Take a 5-second puff and it feels explosive, like being launched into the sky. The vapor fills your whole mouth and then passes through your lungs, which is especially satisfying. But it only lasts for three puffs before automatically returning to normal mode—limited duration, haha! If you want it again, you have to reactivate it.

Previously, perhaps the only thing I felt was lacking was the pod capacity: one box had four 1.2ml pods, which just didn’t feel like enough. Now it has been changed to three 1.8ml pods per box. At first, I worried that the nightmare of pods changing flavor would return when going from 1.2ml to 1.8ml. But the result was no, no, and no. So as far as I’m concerned, MOTI S LITE really has no flaws.

Finally, I just want to say that MOTI S LITE is the only compact vaping device I’ve used so far that I’ve truly fallen in love with from the bottom of my heart.
