RELX Phantom first-use experience

Recently, I found that the first generation has a serious burnt taste. Out of five mint pods, two are burnt. Especially at the distribution points, various convenience stores sell them. Basically, three out of five are burnt. Therefore, I use the fifth generation more often. Additionally, I want to recommend the soft cotton pods, especially for friends who used to enjoy big clouds and cotton cores. A box of 60 is much cheaper, and when I tried the honeydew flavor today, it was really soft. The vapor is noticeably larger, with a sweet and sour taste on the tongue, and a stronger throat hit. I decided to try all the soft pods again in a few days. Last week, I bought two HEETS, and it seems I won't finish them anytime soon.

Besides, the blueberry tobacco is easy to get tired of; I've only used two boxes so far. Mint is the most used.

Update 2021.4.18.

The YOOZ membership has peaked, with no extra benefits, just 20 coupons. In the four months after purchase, I spent more time on the first generation, mainly because the fifth generation pods are often out of stock, especially the mint ones. The fruit flavors are not very strong. Compared to the first generation, the vapor volume and 10% e-liquid have a significant difference. The vapor volume is noticeably smaller; the first generation salt pods last a day and a half, while the fifth generation lasts at most a day. However, recently, during this period of the first generation, the fifth generation has introduced some new flavors. Today, I tried the blueberry flavor with 5% nicotine, and it’s really addictive. The blueberry flavor is not strong and not overly sweet. It has a slight mint taste, and the throat hit is much better than the fruit flavors. All day long, it tastes like Chinese flue-cured tobacco. It might become my go-to for mint.

Here is the original answer.

In October 2018, I first used it, and it has been over two years. I started with big clouds and then transitioned through oil-filled e-cigarettes, disposables, and replacements. The usage cost has increased, but the experience has also upgraded accordingly. Initially, I chose the first YOOZ for convenience because it had more flavor than the contemporaneous PHX. I still remember the first flavor pod was lemon tea. Later, I intermittently bought five or six small devices, and eventually returned to YOOZ because of the mung bean and mint flavors. I used the first generation back and forth with six devices, catching up with the recent long-awaited new product launch and changing my device.

In my opinion, the fifth generation Phantom has many advantages, mainly including the following points:

1. As it is an upgrade from the first generation, the flavor has improved significantly. The strawberry and grape flavors now have a much better flavor restoration. The acidity and taste level are just right.

2. The vapor is denser. The first generation often had a mechanical feel when using vapor, which is hard to describe, feeling a bit stiff. The vapor in the Phantom is smoother; the first generation feels more like flavored smoke to satisfy cravings. The Phantom feels like enjoying and resolving cravings.

3. The shape of the mouthpiece is more comfortable.

Currently, the following aspects are not satisfactory:

1. The hand feel. The overall weight of the device is slightly lighter.

2. The throat hit from the pods feels too weak for me, similar to the mint I usually use as a staple. It should be noted that YOOZ has learned over the years that the largest target group is young people who are not heavily addicted to smoking, rather than those addicted to e-cigarettes.

In summary, the Phantom experience is excellent. As a new product launched after more than a year of dormancy, it is worth upgrading from the first generation. Personally, I think the Type-C port and breathing light are better than having none. However, the overall impression of the product is good, and the user experience has upgraded significantly while being cheaper than the first generation, although I will still keep the first generation mint pods, haha.
