boulder Bolder 2nd Gen Amber Long-Term Use Summary; Is the Bolder Amber Easy to Use?

I've been using the Boulder 2nd Generation Amber e-cigarette (hereinafter referred to as "Amber") for three months now. My first one was the "Seattle White," which I really liked for its clean and elegant color, but I couldn't resist the beauty of the gradient color, so I also got the "Ocean Heart."

Why is it a "pseudo" unboxing? First, I've already used the Amber 2nd Generation for a long time, and second, I immediately unboxed and played with the "Ocean Heart" as soon as I got it, so I didn't have time to write a review. Fortunately, I haven't thrown away the packaging, so let's do it today~

This review will analyze several aspects, including appearance, product craftsmanship, user experience, comparison with competitors, and flavor sharing. Of course, don't worry; this is not an unobjective marketing piece. I will also point out the "fatal" flaws of Amber.

The most intuitive advantage of Amber is its high aesthetic value. Of course, beauty is subjective, but I believe that if you place it among competitors, it will stand out immediately.

Alright, let's "unbox" now~ First, the outer packaging, the logo design and font usage, in my amateur graphic designer opinion, aligns well with my personal style.

Upon opening, there is a formal packaging box. Please bear with me, as I have already opened it, and the plastic seal is gone... The overall design and color scheme are quite elegant, avoiding overly saturated colors. The box material is a delicate matte finish, with the "Boulder" font and images of the e-cigarette in glossy material for contrast, and the "Boulder" logo in the lower right corner uses laser-etched material, creating a nice sense of refinement and high quality. If given as a gift, it would definitely make a good impression.

Inside the packaging, I directly laid out all the accessories, including:

1. One Amber main device

2. Two pods (blueberry burst, black gold tobacco)

3. One lanyard

4. One Type-C charging data cable

5. One product instruction sheet (strictly speaking, it's one page)

Regarding the instruction sheet, I want to mention two points:

1. The casual tone in the highlighted sections is quite rare in product manuals. Moreover, the content is concise and straightforward, reflecting the brand's style, though it can be a bit dull. By the way, RELX does a great job with their instruction manuals, which are quite interesting and have highlights.

2. The manual mentions that discomfort may occur and that users need to adapt. Personally, I find this a bit exaggerated, but I understand that manuals must be cautious. I have only been smoking for a year, and I usually smoke no more than two packs of traditional cigarettes a month, and I have not experienced any discomfort. The first puff of blueberry burst was simply refreshing~ I will elaborate on the user experience later.

The size is moderate, with a smooth and rounded grip, and the weight provides a sense of quality without being too heavy. Of course, such a small device wouldn't feel heavy unless it were a lead block. This is also the heaviest among the pod-style e-cigarettes I have used, weighing 37 grams for the device and 10 grams for a full pod (with a maximum capacity of 3.5ml), thanks to a larger battery and better materials.

The "Ocean Heart" features a blue gradient color scheme, which becomes more beautiful in bright light, transitioning from light to dark blue, resembling the depth from the sea surface to the deep ocean. Coupled with the light gray brand logo and arrow-shaped breathing light on the front, along with the mountain-shaped design at the interface, it can be described as an industrial artwork, truly a masterpiece by French designer Victor, who won the Red Dot Design Award.

Regarding the paint finish, it is said to use Tesla's automotive paint technology (though this isn't crucial; if it were Lexus's paint technology, I might find it impressive). The metallic paint is coated with clear lacquer, shining brightly in sunlight, and during use, it doesn't become a "fingerprint collector" like some competitors with rough matte finishes. As someone who enjoys car modifications and has researched paint finishes, I find that Amber 2nd Generation stands out in craftsmanship and color selection compared to many competitors on the market.

Amber 2nd Generation currently comes in three color options: "Manhattan Black," "Ocean Heart," and "Seattle White." I didn't choose "Manhattan Black" because the all-black design doesn't highlight the mountain-shaped design details at the interface. If you prefer a more understated style, you might consider it.

In terms of craftsmanship and product parameters, I found an official image:

Notably, the 10.5W power (though the manual states 11.5W, which I am unsure about) allows for fuller vapor production. The unique seventh-generation graphene ceramic heating element enhances the vapor's flavor and provides a more direct and rapid satisfaction.

When the pod is inserted into the device, it not only provides a sensation of inhalation but also includes vibration feedback. If it could control continuous vibration, it might become more than just an e-cigarette. Oh my, what am I saying...

When inhaling, the breathing light lights up white, and if you take 8 puffs within 2 minutes, it will flash the white light once and vibrate once to remind you not to overindulge. Amber is great, but moderation is key~ When the battery is low, it will light up red to remind you to charge it. Speaking of charging, Amber uses a Type-C interface at the bottom, which not only speeds up charging but also eliminates the hassle of plugging it in the wrong way like with Android cables.

As for how long a pod lasts? How long can you use it on a full charge? This varies from person to person. For me, who uses it almost all the time except when eating or sleeping, a pod lasts about three days, and a full charge can last me about a day and a half.

Regarding whether it is waterproof, the manual doesn't mention it, and I am reluctant to test it. When I become wealthy, I will demonstrate underwater vaping with the "Ocean Heart." If it is indeed waterproof and has continuous vibration functionality, it might become more than just an e-cigarette... Oh my, I won't say more...

I have purchased and used many pod-style e-cigarettes, and currently, I am using two long-term: one is the Boulder Amber 2nd Generation, and the other I will blur out in the image for you to guess.

First, let's talk about the flavors available for Amber (the following are all personal preferences and very subjective):

Next, I will briefly compare it with another popular product on the market. Can you guess what it is?~

Without my subjective bias, I believe that Boulder Amber 2nd Generation has a significant advantage in overall aesthetics. Coupled with its feel and quality, it seems to belong to a different era of products. Its strength is evident. Moreover, the black version of the competing product, due to its ultra-matte finish, is an absolute "fingerprint collector." As for the convenience of Type-C versus Android charging ports, it depends on your usage habits.

The battery capacity, vaporization effect, and pod capacity are also inferior to Amber. However, its advantage lies in the variety of flavors and rapid iterations. Although some flavors may occasionally perform inconsistently, it at least offers users more novelty. After all, vaping is about enjoyment. Currently, while Amber's flavors are more refined, the speed of flavor updates needs to be improved.

As for the second issue with Amber, mentioned in the flavor review, is that the blueberry burst flavor has a slightly burnt taste when there is less than one-fifth left. I have tried two devices and numerous blueberry pods, and this issue persists. Friends using Amber 2nd Generation have also noticed this problem, although they are not as sensitive as I am. Nevertheless, I hope Boulder can pay attention to and resolve this issue.

Despite some issues, Boulder Amber 2nd Generation remains a highly competitive product on the market.

If you care about aesthetics, quality, and flavor delicacy, I highly recommend this product. Of course, I will continue to use other excellent products, as the e-cigarette market is finally moving towards a healthier and more regulated direction, and I am eager to try more products.
