A 5-Year Vaping Enthusiast Shares Thoughts on Major Brands

Since high school, I have been trying my first puff with classmates, and it has been almost 15 years now. Later, I started to get into e-cigarettes, and I want to share my feelings.

Of course, minors are prohibited from smoking, including e-cigarettes; I am only sharing personal experiences.

Around early 2016, I came into contact with e-cigarettes, with the initial intention like most people to quit smoking. At that time, I was smoking about a pack a day!

Seeing people around me starting to vape, I wanted to give it a try, so I began searching on Taobao. Back then, Taobao still allowed free trading, and I got my first "device," which was a bit of a makeshift (30W max power, not bad).

At first, I was curious, and it felt okay to vape, but there wasn't much difference! I am quite picky, and after finishing two bottles of e-liquid, I was not satisfied with the flavors and started experimenting wildly, thus beginning my flavor journey. In short, it was all about trying different things, and exchanging and sharing e-liquids with friends who vaped was quite interesting.

Vaping is all about flavor; after trying many kinds, I felt something was off, experiencing dry hits and burnt tastes. At that time, I thought it might be the e-liquid's problem, but after a long time of tinkering, I realized it was actually the atomizer's issue. Given that I enjoy experimenting, I started a new round of trials!!!

For someone who loves to tinker, how could I end it here? With the atomizer changed, I had to try more e-liquids, whether they were domestic, Malaysian, or American! I wanted to try everything... I don't know who said that each e-liquid needs a corresponding coil, and that you need to DIY to find your flavor. Is it really like that? I jumped into another pit! Thus began my DIY journey.

Starting DIY

Just when I was going around in circles trying to taste flavors, a wave of big clouds began to trend!

Vaping masters started showing off their skills, doing all sorts of tricks, and I thought it was cool and wanted to try too. But with this 30W low-power device, it just wouldn't work! I needed to change devices; after all, you need at least 80W power to do tricks, so I jumped into another pit!

The Petri atomizer, dripping e-liquid for vapor, was quite good, but carrying a bottle of e-liquid every time I went out was a bit impractical! The Mage atomizer was powerful, with good storage and dual coils, producing big clouds! The flavor was unbeatable... Haha, perfect!

Thus began my various DIY journeys, experimenting with different heating wires and building stations.

In the southern weather, summer is long, and wearing shorts every day! Carrying a big device is indeed inconvenient; I usually vape at home, and when going out, I still prefer traditional cigarettes! So I didn't want to tinker anymore; it was exhausting! Later, I sold my gear on a second-hand platform.

At this time, ceramic coils began to become popular. Convenient and compact, whether at home or on the go, I thought I had to get one~~ Haha

With the rise of ceramic coil compact devices, they really have a significant advantage in terms of vapor production and size! So I started on a new journey, back to the beginning! I must say, for big devices and clouds, compact devices are just too convenient; no more lugging around a big device! Still trying various flavors... But every time I start to dislike a flavor before finishing half a bottle, I begin trying various brands, and the waste rate is quite high!

Finally, after wasting e-liquid and feeling tired of the hassle, I started to dislike it again!!

Once again, I switched to a pod system, no more hassle of finding e-liquid and changing coils, everything is seamless, and I must say it has made things much easier! There is no such thing as a perfect flavor; as long as it fits, it's good!

Given the desire to try flavors from various brands, I see how competitive the market is!

In simple terms, it's all about grabbing market share, which can also be seen as a marketing strategy to give back to users.

I got a starter device from twelve mainstream brands. New flavor trials are starting... I think this will last me for a while, haha...

Why do I want to try so many flavors!
