Recently, YOOZ was invited to attend the 2021 conference on the release, promotion, and implementation of vaping industry group standards. At the meeting, the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce officially announced the implementation of the General Technical Specification for Atomized Electronic Cigarette Devices and the Safety Technical Specification for Electronic Atomizing Liquids (hereinafter referred to as the “Group Standards”).

Industry standards working hand in hand with quality inspection help ensure production safety in the vaping industry.

The Group Standards were jointly discussed and drafted by more than 40 participating organizations, including the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce and leading industry brands such as RELX and YOOZ. On August 27 this year, they were reviewed at a group standards review meeting held in Shenzhen and were technically approved by the review committee for submission, with reference numbers T/CEC001-2021 and T/CEC002-2021 respectively.

Compared with the previous version, the new Group Standards have expanded and improved the content. Drawing on regulations from France, the UK, the US, the EU, and other countries and regions, they integrate the requirements of the EU Tobacco Products Directive along with relevant domestic requirements, remove standard documents not cited in the new version, and specify in appendix form the methods not applicable under the current standards. Overall, they are more rigorous and practical, with more comprehensive content and a more scientific structure, providing guidance for regulation, market direction, oversight, and the upgrading of the vaping industry.

Child-protection features are included to protect minors.

The Group Standards also update the provisions on protecting minors, requiring warning text or warning graphic symbols on atomizer outer packaging stating that sales to minors are prohibited.

In addition, open-system vaping devices must include protective features to prevent children under 52 months old from opening them, thereby avoiding the accidental ingestion of e-liquid due to improper handling. This requirement can further strengthen safeguards and reduce the possibility of minors purchasing or misusing such products.

Maintain responsibility to consumers and uphold that commitment.

As a company representative involved in drafting the Group Standards, YOOZ has consistently maintained a high level of industry self-discipline, adhered to standardized management, and strictly controlled product quality even before the standards were formally released. Its full product line is manufactured in GMP Class 100,000 cleanrooms and has passed ISO9001 quality management system certification and CGMP certification. It has also obtained authoritative certifications and testing, including EU CE, ROHS, and TPD certifications, US FCC and FDA testing and certification, KC certification, and TCT testing. Before any product is launched to the market, it also undergoes a series of laboratory tests, including puffing experience function tests, batch environmental stability tests, and third-party aerosol toxicology tests for atomized products. In terms of quality, YOOZ also works to control the quality and stability of every original component used in every product as much as possible, striving to ensure that every product meets design standards and gives consumers confidence and peace of mind.

At the same time, YOOZ has also fully implemented its corporate social responsibility for protecting minors through brand communication, system and technical management, distributor management, and sales controls. In the early stage of the brand’s establishment, YOOZ launched the YOOZ Attitude Program aimed at protecting minors. Its product outer packaging clearly warns that minors are prohibited from purchasing; effective age checks are carried out for in-store customers; and prominent signs are posted in stores stating that sales to minors are prohibited, to prevent underage purchases. At the distributor and sales-control level, YOOZ strictly requires offline store operators not to sell vaping devices to minors. It also has rules requiring store locations, sales outlets, and product promotional activities to stay away from schools, and its training places special emphasis on laws and regulations prohibiting the sale of vaping devices to minors, ensuring that offline stores strictly comply with the relevant provisions of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors.
