How Much Does the YOOZ 5th Gen Cost? Is the YOOZ UNI 5th Gen Any Good?

On the eve of National Day, the new YOOZ product has finally been released; it's not a spy photo, but a real product.

Reportedly, the new product is named UNI, and the leaked information shows that it comes in two versions: UNI and UNI PRO. Previously, YOOZ's CEO, Mr. Cai, mentioned in a live broadcast that the product set to launch in September is the "fifth generation," so let's tentatively call it the "fifth generation".

Since the launch of the YOOZ Yuzu ZERO2 in July 2020, over a year has passed. Now that the new product is finally here, it raises the question: is the timing of the release a bit late?

Next, let me introduce the prices of the YOOZ fifth generation:

YOOZ Yuzu Fifth Generation UNI: 308 (single device packaging)

YOOZ Yuzu Fifth Generation UNI PRO: 398 (single device packaging with wireless charging case)

YOOZ Yuzu Fifth Generation UNI series pods: 70/two-pack

Is it innovative? Yes, it is. Compared to the ZERO2 and 2S, the mouthpiece cap, fast charging, battery capacity, and pod capacity have increased to 2.1ml, and the pod structure has been upgraded, which should provide a better experience.

Are there highlights? Yes, but not entirely, because these upgrades are no longer unique.

Wireless charging is a well-known highlight feature of the fourth generation; the mouthpiece cap has been used for a long time in the small Y1, and fast charging is now standard for most mid-to-high-end devices. The battery capacity is not particularly advantageous, as many devices can achieve 600+mAh, while Boulder has long had a pod capacity of 3.5ml. As for anodizing, it has become a common process for devices, so there's not much to say.

As for the overall design language, after the exposure of the YOOZ UNI, it has been pointed out that it bears a striking resemblance to the long-standing Aksu. In our view, small devices are limited by size and convenience, making similar appearances unavoidable. However, during the ID definition phase, it is essential for a major brand to compare with existing products on the market to avoid excessive similarity.

Only the optimization of the pod structure remains uncertain; we do not know the specific optimization details, so we cannot make any rash conclusions. Let's leave it to consumers to vote with their wallets.
