How Good Is the RELX 1st Generation? Pros and Cons

RELX 1st Generation product details: 1 device (metal body with a matte finish, weighs 17.3g, 350mAh battery, heavy users will likely need to charge once a day, and a full charge is roughly enough for half a pod. The charging port is still the older Micro

RELX 1st Generation Product Information

Device *1 (The device has a metal matte texture, weighs 17.3g, and has a battery capacity of 350mAh, requiring a charge once a day with frequent use. A full charge can only last for about half a pod. The charging port is outdated, still using micro USB, and the body has two air intake ports for adjusting the draw resistance. There are 11 color options, with the limited edition "Snow White" no longer available.)

Pod *2 (The e-liquid consists of glycerin, propylene glycol, nicotine, and flavoring. It has a capacity of 2.0ml, which is normal. The official claim is that it can provide 600 puffs; personally, I find that one pod lasts about 3 days. It uses a FEELM ceramic core, while most pods use either ceramic or cotton cores. The ceramic core provides a smoother draw and more stable performance, while cotton cores offer better flavor restoration but are less stable and can burn easily. As far as I know, there are currently 16 flavors available for sale, making the 1st generation the one with the most flavors in RELX's product line.)

Instruction Manual (a piece of waste paper that can be used for wiping.)

Charging Cable (good quality, but it is a micro USB data cable, which is inconvenient since most Android phones now use Type-C. Losing the cable can be quite troublesome.)

Official Price: Set 299, Pods 99 per box/3 pods (The 1st generation does not have single devices or engraved devices; all sets come with 3 or 4 pods, and these are all counterfeit.)

Pros of the 1st Generation

1. The 1st generation is RELX's best-selling and most widely used product, with sufficient stock, so there's no need to worry about not being able to find your favorite flavor.

2. A wide variety of color options and pod flavors.

3. From the official pricing perspective, the 1st generation is also the most economical and practical choice; it's a safe bet for trying out e-cigarettes.

4. The 1st generation has a huge market presence, and many brands have produced compatible pods, giving users more choices.

5. Manufactured by McWell, a well-established e-cigarette manufacturer, ensuring quality.

Cons of the 1st Generation

1. In 2021, it still uses a micro USB charging port, which is quite inconvenient; when going out, you have to carry a separate data cable.

2. There are a lot of counterfeits! The 1st generation has the highest market share in the e-cigarette market, and counterfeits are rampant. It is strongly recommended to purchase from authorized stores whenever possible for peace of mind. While online prices may be cheaper, the risks are high, especially with counterfeit products that support QR codes. There are cases of fake products being sold as real, mixed sales of genuine and fake products, and scams where buyers are blacklisted after payment. In my experience over the past four to five years in various industries, bad products drive out good ones. Seeing others profit while you struggle is disheartening; stick to your principles.

3. Oil leakage has been a common complaint since the product's launch. While there have been improvements, it still exists. It's not a major issue; just be careful not to draw too hard on the first puff. If there is leakage, a tissue will usually fix it.

4. The product lacks advanced features; there are no vibration alerts or other fancy functions—just a simple stick. Internal news suggests that the 1st generation will gradually be phased out, with the 5th generation being promoted. However, the pods for the 1st generation will not be discontinued, as it remains a strong contender in the market despite the 5th generation being newly released and in short supply. I don't believe the 5th generation can replace the 1st generation's market position.

Notes

1. Do not draw on the device when it is upside down, such as lying in bed with one hand on your phone and the other holding the device; this can cause the atomizer to burn dry.

2. It is normal to have condensation; just wipe it with a tissue. If not addressed, it can affect the flavor (the same applies to oil leakage).

3. Do not use fast charging; the 1st generation does not support fast charging.
