RELX 1st Gen vs 4th Gen: Which Is Better? What Are the Differences?
Here, I’m taking what you mean by “better” to refer purely to the product itself, without discussing other aspects.
The 4th generation is definitely better than the 1st generation.
If you don’t know RELX products at all, I’d describe it this way: the 4th generation is essentially an upgraded version of the 1st generation.
If you already have a general understanding of or experience with RELX, then there’s no need to compare every product specification one by one.
Let me share some data from people around me.
I roughly counted my friends and colleagues who use vaping devices. Since they’re people around me, of course they’re all loyal RELX users. Nearly 90% of them own the 4th generation. In fact, excluding customers, I can only count a little over 20 people around me, and 19 of them use the 4th generation.

These can be divided into two categories
1. People who previously used the 1st generation, tried the 4th generation, and then switched to the 4th generation: 7 people
2. People who previously used the 2nd or 3rd generation, as well as first-time buyers of vaping devices, who tried the 4th generation and bought the 4th generation directly: 12 people
The rest are people who don’t plan to switch, or who can’t switch because the pods they use don’t match.
Among users of the 2nd and 3rd generations, relatively few switched to the 4th generation, because the draw and aftertaste characteristics of the 2nd/3rd generations are different from those of the 1st/4th generations in different ways, so this comes down to personal preference.
This is clearly a one-sided advantage in the numbers. Of course, if you’re planning to buy one, you should still compare it against your own needs, preferences, and overall situation before choosing.
As for your second question
The 1st generation sells extremely well because it offers great value for money and the product is mature in all aspects. RELX holds more than 60% of the market nationwide, and a large portion of that comes from the 1st generation. Especially for beginners, starting with the 1st generation is usually the safer choice.
