In RAPEX, the EU’s rapid alert system for non-food products, the 48th week of 2014 saw a total of 39 notifications. Products from mainland China accounted for 21 of them, or 53.8% of all notifications. Among them was a RAPEX alert for a Nexans vaping charger made in China.
A French authority reported the Nexans e-cigarette power charger due to an electric shock risk. The notice says the Nexans e-cigarette power charger has insufficient electrical insulation, creating a risk of electric shock; the product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant EU standard EN61558-2. Nexans said it would voluntarily remove the product from shelves and recall the Nexans e-cigarette power charger.
