On June 1, the non-profit organization National E-liquid Association held a press conference in Los Angeles to officially launch a verification system for e-liquid anti-counterfeiting and anti-smuggling globally. This system tracks the flow of e-liquid through a unique verification code on each bottle, preventing the emergence of counterfeit and smuggled e-liquids from production to retail, further regulating the global e-liquid market and ensuring consumer health.
This newly launched e-liquid system consists of a database terminal and mobile communication terminals, and is open for mobile app downloads for both iOS and Android users. Users can directly scan the unique verification code on each bottle of e-liquid through the mobile app to understand the timeline of the e-liquid from production to wholesale distribution and then to retail stores, achieving full tracking of e-liquid production.
Dave Barela, President of the National E-liquid Association
Dave Barela, President of the National E-liquid Association, stated: "E-cigarettes were originally invented by the Chinese, and have developed rapidly in recent years. Currently, the global e-liquid market sees the United States and Malaysia as the most important production areas, especially with the highest quality e-liquids coming from the United States. This has led to a significant amount of counterfeit and smuggled American e-liquids appearing, with many counterfeit products made from inferior raw materials. Smuggled e-liquids are often diluted to increase volume for greater profit.
Erwin, Vice President of the National E-liquid Association
Erwin, Vice President of the National E-liquid Association, introduced that last year, major smuggling and counterfeiting cases of e-liquids were reported in Brazil, China, France, and other regions, with many products primarily being counterfeit American e-liquids. The National E-liquid Association is closely monitoring the progress of these cases and has assisted law enforcement in various regions with professional guidance on identifying the authenticity of e-liquids.
Erwin emphasized that e-liquids enter the lungs and other organs through combustion, and the quality of their components has a significant impact on users' health. Effective technical measures must be taken to supervise the entire production and sales process. The system developed this time will effectively achieve this goal, with the initial verification areas covering regions with rampant counterfeit e-liquids, such as South America, Asia-Pacific, and Southern Europe, which is expected to alleviate the chaotic market situation to some extent.
Eugene, Head of the E-liquid Verification System
Eugene, Head of the E-liquid Verification System, introduced that the verification system released this time took 14 months to develop. Each bottle of e-liquid has a unique randomly generated QR code, with records at every endpoint from production to retail. The verification code uses anti-counterfeiting technology, making it impossible for counterfeit and smuggled products to forge the verification code or generate early factory and distribution records out of thin air.
The e-liquid tracking and anti-counterfeiting system is about to enter the global market
Dave stated that the new e-liquid tracking and anti-counterfeiting system will not charge any fees to anyone or any company, but e-liquids that can be included in the information database must undergo the full set of standard inspections by the E-liquid Association, including on-site factory inspections, production line capability assessments, and blind tests of raw materials. Dave introduced that the first batch of American e-liquids adopting the verification and anti-counterfeiting measures will begin entering the global market in mid-June, and the QR code verification app will soon be available for users to download.
The National E-liquid Association is a non-profit professional organization
The National E-liquid Association is currently the only government-registered non-profit professional organization in the e-liquid field, with nearly 500 members including industry experts, e-liquid companies, and volunteers. It has completed nearly 3,000 hours of volunteer public service projects in the industry, and currently has nearly 100 completed or ongoing non-profit e-liquid improvement projects.
