A Long-Time Smoker’s Review of the IQOS Experience

I used to love smoking, but now that I'm preparing for a second child and I'm not getting any younger, I plan to listen to my wife and live a healthier life. However, my craving for cigarettes is too strong to quit, so I'm considering trying e-cigarettes. I have used some e-cigarettes before, but I always felt uncomfortable. This IQOS e-cigarette was recommended to me by a colleague at work who said it was particularly good. My colleague is also a long-time smoker and very picky about e-cigarettes, but this time he praised the IQOS e-cigarette, so I decided to give it a try.

First of all, when I first got it in my hands, I was quite pleased. At least the feel is good, comfortable, and not awkward. As someone who has smoked for many years, my biggest concern is whether I would feel uncomfortable holding an e-cigarette. The e-cigarettes I bought before felt awkward, and I eventually switched back to regular cigarettes. However, this one felt just right in my hand, not heavy, and the packaging is very simple and not flashy, which suits me well.

Secondly, besides a good feel and comfort, smoking is also about taste. This IQOS e-cigarette, besides its basic function of filtering tar to reduce its taste, also has a bit of a smoking sensation, retaining the satisfaction of taking a big puff like traditional cigarettes. It effectively combines the best of both worlds. Unlike some e-cigarettes that overly pursue electronic features, making the taste too different from regular cigarettes, it is hard for long-time smokers like us to adapt to that sudden change.

Although transitioning from traditional cigarettes to e-cigarettes is meant to filter out some tar, and we know smoking is harmful to health, we still want to reduce the harm a little. However, the reason we have not quit smoking for so many years is due to our dependency on the taste and the enjoyment it brings. If an e-cigarette cannot retain that feeling, it would be a failure for me.

Another important point is that as an e-cigarette, we must consider the charging and duration issues. This IQOS e-cigarette uses a USB interface for charging, which is quite convenient, and you can also use a power bank when you're out. Additionally, there seems to be a magnetic design during heating, making it less likely to fall off. In the past, I often experienced the heated tobacco falling out, which was quite annoying. Now, with this e-cigarette, such occurrences are rare, and the heating time is very short, leading to high satisfaction.

Lastly, while the USB charging port is convenient and can be used with a power bank, with so many daily electronic devices, it's easy to forget to charge, making battery life very important.
