Turkish President Posts First Tweet Urging People to Stay Away from Tobacco
On February 10, according to British media reports, the Turkish presidential office recently announced that President Erdogan, who is visiting Colombia, posted his first tweet on February 9, condemning the behavior of Turkish citizens smoking on the No Smoking Day and urging the public to resist the temptation of tobacco. The tweet ended with his initials "RTE".
It is reported that many Turkish officials have already opened personal "Twitter" accounts and often post tweets, such as Turkish Prime Minister Davutoglu.
Turkey had announced a complete ban on the use of the social media platform "Twitter" in March 2014, which sparked public outcry in Turkey.
The Turkish presidential office later issued a statement saying that "Twitter" was banned due to its failure to comply with court orders to delete certain messages. The statement indicated that if "Twitter" continued to disregard the regulations, there would be no choice but to ban it. The closure lasted for two weeks.
