Internet Cafe Fined 1,000 Yuan for Failing to Stop Smoking
In many people's eyes, smoking in internet cafes may seem like a common occurrence, but this behavior not only poses fire safety hazards but also hinders the healthy development of internet service operations. On September 2, the police from the Xitang Police Station in Haiyan County issued a fine to an internet cafe for failing to promptly stop customers from smoking. This is reportedly the first case of an internet cafe being fined for not preventing smoking.
On the day of the incident, police found two customers smoking at positions 51 and 19 in the internet cafe during an inspection, while the management did not advise them to stop. Their actions constituted a failure to prevent smoking in an internet service venue. The police issued a warning and fined the internet cafe 1,000 yuan for this violation.
According to Article 33, Item 1 of the "Regulations on the Administration of Internet Service Venues," if an internet service venue fails to stop smoking, the public security organ may issue a warning and impose a fine of up to 15,000 yuan. In severe cases, they may order a suspension of business for rectification, or even revoke the "Internet Culture Business License" by the cultural administrative department.
