Local Vape Shop Owner Says the FDA Has Made Quitting Smoking Harder
Mayfield, Kentucky — A local business owner says the Food and Drug Administration is setting people up to fail if they want to quit smoking cigarettes.
Shane Haley is the owner of Vapor Station in Mayfield, Kentucky. He said he used to educate his customers about how to quit smoking, but now, because of new FDA restrictions on the vaping industry, doing so has become illegal.
“Vaping as we know it will be wiped out unless the law changes,” Haley said. “Don’t get me wrong, I support regulation.”
Haley said the new law does not just hurt businesses. It also hurts consumers.
“My biggest concern is the harm this will do to people who will have to go back to smoking,” Haley said.
Haley said customers ask him questions every day that he is no longer allowed to answer.
“They are going to make it impossible for us to stay in business,” Haley said.
Haley said it is a tough fight, and right now the industry, his business, and the public are losing.
