Tobacco-flavored e-liquid has always been one of the go-to flavors for both beginners and seasoned users. Products from different brands vary in flavor and throat feel, so some people love them while others hate them. In the end, the quality of a tobacco-flavored e-liquid largely comes down to how closely it resembles a real cigarette.
Today, I’d like to introduce a product from MaskKing (MK), the Civil War series — Emancipation Proclamation, a pure tobacco-flavored e-liquid. The theme of this series is drawn from the only civil war in American history: the Civil War.
Among the three flavors in the lineup, Emancipation Proclamation represents a pure Virginia tobacco profile. Besides today’s featured product, the other two are:
Peninsula Campaign — Iced Tobacco, and Battle of Manassas — Double Apple Tobacco
If you’re interested, they’re worth trying as well.
It comes in a 60ml large glass bottle, with 3mg nicotine strength and a 70:30 VG ratio.
The label states that it is made in the USA, with Beijing Mankesiwei International Trade Co., Ltd. listed as the distributor.
A barcode check shows that the product information matches the label exactly.
Production date, shelf life, precautions, and other details are all clearly provided.
The cap is sealed with handcrafted wax. Simply twist the cap and the wax seal breaks open automatically.
After opening, there is also a small inner cap at the bottle mouth to help prevent flavor loss and leakage.
For easier filling, the manufacturer also includes a glass dropper, which is a very thoughtful touch.
The e-liquid itself is dark brown in color. The aroma is pure tobacco, but not harsh.
On the first puff, it gives a raw tobacco-style sensation. It feels smooth on the inhale, without harshness or irritation.
It has neither the caramel sweetness of Halo nor the minty coolness of capsule-style cigarette flavors.
The taste remains quite authentic, with about 70% similarity to a real cigarette.
On closer tasting, you can detect a note reminiscent of tobacco ash after combustion, like the natural subtle aroma of real tobacco.
It is not like the burnt leather taste of Oak Hill, which I personally find hard to accept.
Nor is it like the ashtray-like smell of Black Star, which I strongly dislike.
On the exhale and in the aftertaste, the tobacco aroma lingers in the mouth with a cigar-like smoothness and comfort.
It doesn’t have the harsh, dry, spicy character of a real cigarette that can leave the mouth feeling uncomfortable.
People nearby also won’t be bothered by an overly stimulating or unpleasant smell.
Overall, among the tobacco e-liquids I’ve tried,
many so-called tobacco flavors don’t really qualify as true tobacco flavors.
Either they are too sweet, with only a hint of smokiness rather than tobacco as the main note,
or they contain too many off-notes, giving a generic burnt smell instead of the aroma of burning tobacco.
This Emancipation Proclamation e-liquid performs relatively well in comparison, with a softer and purer expression.
Personally, I’d rate its similarity at 70%, which is already quite a high score.
The only drawback is that the 3mg nicotine level gives a somewhat weak throat hit, which may not satisfy everyone.
That said, I’d personally recommend trying it with an flavor-focused atomizer.
Perhaps its flavor performance will surprise you even more!
