Market Study: Habits of Vapers in the United States
ECigIntelligence research found that typical American vapers exhibit the following behavioral characteristics:
Use of second-generation devices
Use of tobacco-flavored e-liquids
Vaping daily
Simultaneously using e-cigarettes and other traditional tobacco products

Despite the availability of more advanced models, second-generation open-system devices (often referred to as e-Go or pen-style e-cigarettes) remain the most popular devices currently. Furthermore, although there are some regional differences across the United States, vaping remains very popular, especially in traditional retail outlets.
The research indicates that closed-system devices and dual users are quite common in the U.S. market. It also examined important demographic factors such as income, age, and gender, as well as elements like price and nicotine strength preferences.
The vast majority of young consumers (ages 18-24) prefer more advanced and stylish e-cigarettes, while the largest group of users over 65 years old are those using disposable vaping devices.

Additionally, vapers with household incomes over $75,000 are more inclined to use closed-system devices, which are generally more expensive in the long run due to e-liquid costs compared to open systems. Closed-system devices are also easier for first-time vapers to use, as they do not require learning how to refill pods and adjust power settings.
Moreover, the study also looked at the usage rates of disposable e-cigarettes, pod-based e-cigarettes, and e-liquids. For instance, most vapers use 2 to 7 replaceable pods per week.
