The target of this review is the Kanger Karat pod vape from the well-known manufacturer Kanger. Many friends are familiar with Kanger, and I have used several of their products. Most small vapes today use ceramic cores, but Kanger has introduced a small vape that uses a high-temperature honeycomb quartz core.
1. Packaging
I received a small vape and a 2ml capacity atomizer. The vape is packaged in a white-themed box, with the shape and name "KARAT" printed on the front. The term "karat" is generally used to explain the purity of precious metals, such as 24K gold.
The back of the box contains information about the contents and the manufacturer's address, etc.
Inside the package, there are several items: a multilingual instruction manual, a warranty card, a certificate of conformity, a charging cable, and a small vape with an atomizer.
2. Component Breakdown
The components of the small vape are few, mainly consisting of the atomizer and the body. You can see the magnetic connection and electrodes.
The front of the Karat vape features a shield-shaped emblem, which includes the name and an indicator light.
3. Product Display
The overall shape of the vape resembles a diamond cut, giving it a high-end and industrial feel.
The gradient color scheme looks very attractive.
The mouthpiece of the atomizer is tapered, making it suitable for mouth-to-lung inhalation.
There is a charging port on the side, and a lanyard hole at the bottom, which is a nice design.
4. Usage Experience
The first impression of the small vape is that it feels solid, heavier than I expected, giving a strong sense of quality. I checked the battery capacity, which is 370mAh, decent enough, and the shell is made of zinc alloy.
The bottom of the pod has two oil filling holes; when fully opened, one is for filling oil, and the other is for venting, which is a great design. After filling the oil for the first time, it needs to sit for a few minutes to allow the atomizer core to fully absorb the e-liquid before use.
In this review, I used two types of nicotine e-liquids: Mango Slush 888 and Little Green Man, both of which are nicotine salt e-liquids. I really like the flavors of these two e-liquids, as they bring out the nuances that are often lost in many small vapes, and can only be appreciated with a dedicated salt e-liquid atomizer.
The air switch does not require a button; the first puff feels quite cool, which is nice. According to the manual, the resistance is about 1.3 ohms, which is not small. Generally, small vapes do not handle cool flavors well, often diluting the cooling sensation, but the Karat does not have this issue; the cooling flavor is very pronounced.
Continuing to inhale, the cooling, sweetness, and fruitiness emerge together, feeling very close to the flavor experienced with a salt e-liquid atomizer. I found this surprising and inquired further, discovering that the Karat vape uses a honeycomb quartz atomizer core, which is innovative and offers several advantages over ceramic cores, such as stable heating, better flavor reproduction, energy efficiency, and faster heating and oil absorption. I suddenly appreciated that they provided me with an extra atomizer; it feels like a bonus!
Switching to Little Green Man, the flavor is also excellent, with the unique blend of fruitiness standing out, and the flavor is well-extracted, which is quite rare in small vapes.
Overall Evaluation:
In the crowded small vape market, Kanger's Karat stands out with its innovative honeycomb quartz atomizer core, delivering excellent flavor reproduction and a great vaping experience, along with its attractive appearance, making it a noteworthy small vape to try.
