4th Generation IQOS: A Real Smoking Replacement Method Used by Longtime Smokers
Using e-cigarettes to quit smoking is no longer a strange topic, but there are several aspects to consider when choosing e-cigarettes for quitting: taste, harm, and addiction issues.
1. A taste close to that of cigarettes is more conducive to quitting.
Using e-cigarettes to quit smoking is a replacement process, whether you continue to use e-cigarettes after quitting or not. A similar taste helps with acceptance and long-term use, which increases the chances of quitting. If you are not accustomed to the taste from the beginning, it will be difficult to persist, let alone quit smoking.
I previously used several e-cigarettes but could not stick with them because their taste was not satisfactory; they were too sweet, and the vapor lacked warmth, giving no sensation of smoking. However, I recently acquired a fourth-generation IQOS 3.0, which has a decent taste, and the vapor feels substantial, very similar to the sensation of smoking cigarettes. Since I started using this model, I have been using it continuously without any discomfort.
2. Choose a low-harm e-cigarette.
Quitting smoking is primarily due to the significant harm caused by traditional cigarettes, so when choosing e-cigarettes, one should select a product with relatively low harm; otherwise, quitting becomes unnecessary.
For example, the IQOS fourth generation 3.0 that I am currently using has relatively low harm, partly because it has a lower tar content in the tobacco, and the non-combustion heating technology releases fewer harmful substances during use (the temperature reached during heating is not high, and most harmful substances in tobacco rely on high temperatures for release). In the long run, it poses less bodily harm, making it a safer option for quitting smoking.
3. Be aware of the potential for new addiction.
I believe everyone does not want to go through the effort of quitting traditional cigarettes only to develop an addiction to e-cigarettes. Therefore, when choosing e-cigarettes, try to buy a product with a lower potential for addiction. This way, after quitting traditional cigarettes, if you do not want to continue using e-cigarettes, it will be easier to quit. In this regard, I think IQOS does a good job; a friend of mine used their third generation product, and after seven years of smoking, he quit using it in just over a month, and after quitting, he easily stopped using IQOS as well, without much discomfort.
The fourth-generation IQOS 3.0 that I am using is similar; I have been using it for about a month and a half now, and I do not feel much dependence on it. I usually only use it when I have cravings for traditional cigarettes, and I rarely use it otherwise.
Using e-cigarettes to quit smoking is becoming increasingly common, but it must be acknowledged that there are risks associated with quitting smoking using e-cigarettes. Paying attention to these points when selecting e-cigarettes will make the quitting process much smoother and reduce concerns.
