China E-cigarette News: It has been reported that on November 12, the Swiss Public Transport Association announced that Switzerland will ban passengers from using vaping devices on public transport starting December 15.
The association’s spokesperson told Swiss media outlet ATS that the current fine for smoking conventional cigarettes or cannabis on public transport is 25 Swiss francs, equivalent to 20 euros.
Switzerland made this decision because public transport drivers cannot distinguish whether passengers are smoking conventional cigarettes or using vaping devices while driving. The catering industry in Switzerland faces the same issue. Hotels and inns have not established specific regulations regarding e-cigarettes. The Swiss Hotel and Lodging Association recently stated that it will not impose mandatory rules on this matter, and each proprietor has the right to decide for themselves.
According to confirmation from the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, the rate of e-cigarette use in Switzerland has been growing rapidly. The agency’s head stated that although nicotine-containing e-cigarettes are prohibited from being sold in Switzerland, their use is permitted.
