A Blessing for Bad E-Liquid: E-Liquid Additive Experience

 　　With social progress and technological development, various additives have emerged, such as fuel additives for cars, oil additives, and various food additives like MSG and salt... Of course, there are also additives in other products, such as red-headed flies and Indian herbal oil, which everyone understands. Therefore, it is inevitable that additives also appear in e-liquids. The function of additives is well-known: to improve. The same goes for e-liquid additives. Today, I won't follow the traditional method of observation and inquiry; I'll get straight to the point.

  　　Appearance   　　There are five types of e-liquid additives: sweetener remover, throat hit enhancer, cooling agent, vapor enhancer, and throat smoother. Each additive comes in a 20ML pen-shaped injection bottle, with each labeled with capacity, precautions, and category name. However, there are no factory instructions, manufacturer, or address, which is a bit concerning. Except for the vapor enhancer, all bottles indicate a PG/VG ratio of 30:70, which corresponds to the PG/VG ratio of most e-liquids, so these additives have general applicability.   　　The color of the e-liquids, except for the sweetener remover which is light brown, is otherwise colorless and transparent, and all additives are tasteless. Let's focus on the experience of using them~   　　Experience   　　Device: Main unit SMOK X-PRIV 225W   　　Atomizer: Haishige MAZE V3 single coil 0.42Ω flavor dripping   　　E-liquid pairing: Soul House Frozen Watermelon (throat hit enhancer, sweetener remover), Maradona No. 0 (throat smoother), 256 No. 2 tobacco flavor e-liquid (cooling agent), HelloCig Tieguanyin (vapor enhancer)   　　Experience process: Add the additives to a cleaned refill bottle and mix evenly with various paired e-liquids, then let it sit for a day before vaping.   　　Experience feedback:   　　Throat hit enhancer: After adding the throat hit enhancer to the original e-liquid, I can confirm that the English label on the packaging is not misleading; it indeed contains nicotine, and the throat hit sensation is much more pronounced. The previously almost imperceptible throat hit is now very noticeable, to the point where I have to inhale through my mouth to continue vaping. Perhaps I added a bit too much (about 3ml of e-liquid with 4-5 drops), but the improvement in throat hit is significant, and the advantage is that it enhances the throat hit without altering the original flavor of the e-liquid. The throat hit enhancer is definitely worth recommending; its 12MG nicotine content is safer and more reliable than DIY pure nicotine.   　　Sweetener remover: This additive has a certain suppressive effect on the sweetness of the original e-liquid. After inhalation, the e-liquid's previously sweet profile becomes more subdued, with vapor production not significantly different from the original e-liquid, and the original aroma remains unchanged. It can effectively improve sweetness for those who dislike sweet flavors, but improvement does not mean it is completely gone; sweetness can still be felt in the inhaled vapor, and at certain points, a hint of herbal bitterness can be detected, especially at the back of the tongue, which is quite pronounced.   　　Throat smoother: The original e-liquid Maradona No. 0 is one I have been using intermittently for a long time, a 60ML e-liquid that has lasted several months. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that after sitting for a while, the e-liquid separates into layers, which may also be the reason for the difficult-to-accept sensation when vaping. This is why I chose to use the throat smoother. After adding the throat smoother, the overall vaping experience improved qualitatively; the vapor became smoother and much easier to accept, but the aftertaste's sweetness also increased significantly. The effect of this additive is quite noticeable; it can improve the vaping experience for difficult-to-accept e-liquids, but the increase in sweetness may also be a side effect. So I thought, could I use the sweetener remover to further improve the original e-liquid?~~~~ Just like that, after adding the sweetener remover to the e-liquid, the sweetness did not significantly decrease, and for some unknown reason, the throat's acceptability decreased, making the e-liquid more irritating, which was contrary to my original intention. Although this was a small episode, it is undeniable that the throat smoother does have a certain improvement effect on difficult-to-accept e-liquids.   　　Cooling agent: The effect of the cooling agent is still very noticeable. After using it in a ratio of about 1:10, the cooling sensation in the throat is very pronounced, significantly increasing the coolness of e-liquids that originally had no cooling agents, while the original aroma of the e-liquid does not change much. For those who enjoy a cooling sensation, the cooling agent can indeed provide a refreshing experience from head to toe; the test e-liquid No. 2 instantly becomes No. 6. In the cold weather of Northeast China, where temperatures drop below -10 degrees, vaping this is still quite "invigorating."   　　Vapor enhancer: This additive can basically be considered as VG, as the effects produced are similar to those produced by adding VG. During use, I did not feel any difference from VG; the amount of vapor produced is still very noticeable, and the increased vapor density is also effective, so this is recommended for those who enjoy big clouds.   　　In summary: All five additives can achieve their stated goals and have a positive effect on improving e-liquids in five aspects. However, it is undeniable that adding additives can also produce other effects. This time, the additives tested had no manufacturer branding, which I believe is insufficient.
