Born in 1988, he has loved music since childhood. He began studying under Teacher He Qing at Tianjin Conservatory of Music at the age of 10. In 2001, he was admitted to the conservatory's classical guitar program with excellent results. In 2007, he entered the classical guitar program at the Hanover University of Music and Drama in Germany, and in 2011, he was admitted to graduate school, graduating in 2013 with dual master's degrees in performance and music education. Gong Zhe has been teaching classical guitar at the National Music School in Dandebao, Germany, since 2011. His students achieved second place in the 2012 German Youth Classical Guitar Competition (with the first place vacant, as there is no professional student competition for those under 18 in Germany).
