In 2014, IQOS was born into the world, bringing the concept of "heating but not burning" (i quit original smoking) into our view. Just like its name, many people have thus quit traditional cigarettes. Today, the user base is growing larger. On the streets and alleys abroad, we often see IQOS users "smoking", and its growth is gradually impacting the traditional tobacco market, attracting global attention.

Of course, the most concerned about IQOS are still its users. After four years of upgrades and improvements, IQOS has evolved from the first version to version 2.4, which has become the most popular 2.4Plus. Compared to vaping devices, its update speed is indeed too slow, and everyone is eager to know when the next generation will be released. Well, I recently got a wave of spy photos of the latest fourth-generation IQOS, giving everyone a sneak peek!

Although we cannot guarantee the authenticity of the spy photos, if we take them as a reference, we can see that the fourth-generation IQOS is indeed quite different from the previous generations. The surface material of the heating stick leans towards a matte finish; the charging case has changed from the previous design, opening from the side, adding a lot of technological feel. But is this what we want?

Upgrades in the first three versions of IQOS

1: Improved heating element

2: Adjusted LED white light brightness

3: Increased battery capacity of the charging case

4: Added vibration function to the heating stick

5: Reduced charging time of the heating stick by 20%

6: Enhanced sealing of the heating stick "cap"

7: The Korean version of IQOS added Bluetooth functionality

8: Various small parts improvements

After three upgrades, IQOS has developed significantly, but there is still much room for optimization. Here, we specifically arranged the IQOS 2.4 Plus for discussion about the upgraded fourth-generation IQOS.

Part 1

Possible upgrade areas (the following images are of IQOS 2.4 Plus)

Charging case charging

The charging port of the IQOS charging case has always been a USB interface, but with the popularity of Type-C interfaces, which offer higher transmission and charging speeds, Type-C may be the next best choice for IQOS.

Heating stick charging

From the spy photos, we cannot see the bottom of the IQOS heater. Does it still charge like the previous chip? Some suggest that if it uses magnetic charging at the bottom, it could achieve faster charging efficiency. From then on, charging will become the new standard!

However, IQOS may not be able to improve charging speed by controlling smoking frequency.

Charging case battery level

From the spy photos, we can see that the shape of the charging case has changed, and the position of the heating stick has also shifted. If IQOS uses an L-shaped battery like the iPhone XS, and the battery has been modified and upgraded, can it increase the battery capacity?

Sealing issues

Users of IQOS have noticed a phenomenon where the button part of the heating stick sometimes emits smoke. Will the new heating stick's tilted button solve this problem? Let's look forward to it.

Tar penetration

Heating stick damage generally has two causes: one is the breakage of the heating chip, and the other is tar penetration into the bottom of the heating stick. This time, I wonder if IQOS will improve this issue.

Part 2

Expected improvements

Uneven heating

Currently, IQOS's heating method heats the middle heating element, which causes many surrounding parts to be wasted. Many non-burning products on the market use peripheral ring heating methods. If both methods are combined to adjust the heating temperature, it could greatly improve heating efficiency!

Fragile heating element

Despite enhancements, the IQOS heating element remains very fragile, and many people accidentally twist the tobacco stick, causing the heating element to break. I wonder if this issue will be resolved in this upgrade!

Heating temperature

Currently, IQOS users often use three types of tobacco sticks: Marlboro, Heets, and Fiit. Except for Marlboro, the other two have heating temperatures sufficient to meet flavor requirements, higher than IQOS's heating temperature, and more suitable for lil. From the user's perspective, we actually hope IQOS can set temperatures suitable for various sticks. However, everyone has seen the new images. There is no separate button on the heating stick. After all, Marlboro is still selling Marlboro tobacco sticks, and it is impossible for them to let their products serve others.

But if we think carefully, the button could be designed to serve different purposes. For example, one press for Marlboro temperature, two presses for Heets temperature, and three presses for Fiit temperature.

The fourth-generation IQOS e-cigarette is about to be released, and it still excites users, especially as it becomes increasingly stylish and practical! What improvements do you think it will make? Raise your hand to vote and let me see everyone's needs!
