What Should You Do If Your E-Liquid Starts Tasting Faint?

Many people notice that when using vaping devices, an e-liquid that once had a strong flavor gradually starts to taste weak. Or after finishing the first bottle and buying a second bottle of the exact same e-liquid, they wonder why it no longer tastes the way it used to. There are mainly two key reasons for this, and we’ll explain them below.
NO.1 E-liquid storage Proper e-liquid storage is very important, especially for mint flavors and liquor-style flavors. Because these e-liquids contain mint flavorings or alcohol-related flavorings, leaving the bottle open or failing to tighten the cap can cause the flavorings to evaporate. You may even find that the e-liquid level has dropped noticeably after just a few days. So here are three key ways to properly store opened e-liquid.
Keep it away from light! Never let e-liquid sit in direct sunlight, as this will speed up changes in the nicotine’s color, turning it brown or darker.
Tighten the cap! Long-term contact between e-liquid and air can cause oxidation and allow the flavorings in the e-liquid to evaporate, which naturally weakens the taste.
Keep it dry and ventilated! Damp and stuffy environments can breed bacteria easily. The main ingredients in e-liquid can accelerate bacterial growth by providing an ideal environment. These bacteria can contaminate the e-liquid, damage its composition, and even pose health risks.
So once you have ruled out flavor changes caused by improper e-liquid storage, let’s move on to the second major reason.
NO.2 Taste fatigue
This is easy to understand. Doing the same thing over and over can become tiring and boring, and the same is true for your taste buds. After being exposed to one particular flavor for a long time, your taste buds gradually develop resistance to it. Some e-liquids may seem very cool at first, but after your throat gets used to them, they no longer feel as cool. Some may seem very intense at first, but after repeated use, they no longer feel that strong. In a way, this is actually a good thing—it’s a natural response of the body. But if you don’t want your favorite e-liquid flavors to seem weaker, there are four ways to deal with it.
The most commonly used method is to prepare more flavors of e-liquid. If you use a tank atomizer, switch to another e-liquid after vaping three tanks. If you use a dripper, switch flavors after replacing the cotton once. The goal is to keep your taste buds from being exposed to the same e-liquid flavor for too long. Alternating flavors is the most effective method.
Use different styles of atomizers. If you have been using a low-vapor but flavor-rich atomizer with one e-liquid for a long time, then switch to a high-vapor dripper, the experience can feel instantly different. Alternating between different atomizers can also solve this problem.
Drink more water and eat other foods to weaken your taste buds’ memory of the flavor. If your e-liquid seems tasteless, have some barbecue and then vape again—it often works very well. Some people online also say that soda water or salty sparkling drinks can have a similar effect, though this is only mentioned here and has not been explored further by 17.
Hold off! Wait two hours, wait three hours, or even half a day before vaping again. In most cases, the flavor perception will basically recover.
