According to reports from the U.S. tobacco website, as consumption of vaping products continues to grow in Canada, the government of British Columbia has stipulated a comprehensive ban on the sale of vaping products to minors and prohibited the use of e-cigarettes inside office buildings. Advertising e-cigarettes to young people is also banned, and violators may face fines of up to CAD 5,000.

Quebec’s newly drafted Bill 44 also requires e-cigarettes to be subject to the same restrictions as conventional cigarettes. If the bill is passed, the use of e-cigarettes will be prohibited in all public places across the province.

In fact, some regions, including Ontario and British Columbia, have already revised their local tobacco control laws to require consumers not to use vaping products and similar smoking devices in all places where smoking is prohibited. This has effectively placed vaping products on equal footing with traditional tobacco products in terms of tobacco control, leading to dissatisfaction among many e-cigarette manufacturers and traders.
