A Domestic IQOS Alternative Arrives: Huoqi GS5.0 Rises Strongly

Recently, the first batch of heated tobacco products MU+ and ING from Guangdong China Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd., Jinye Cigarette Factory (Macau) Co., Ltd., was launched in Laos.
Including Sichuan China Tobacco’s “Kuanzhai” and Yunnan China Tobacco’s “MC” and “MW,” this is already the third China Tobacco company to launch heated tobacco products in overseas markets!
With so many recent developments related to heated tobacco, I couldn’t help but pay attention when I saw China Tobacco launch another heated tobacco product, and I noticed a lot of interesting details!
1. New technology
Although Guangdong China Tobacco has not released images of MU+, the available information suggests that this time they used a technology called “disordered tobacco blend formula” to make the MU+ tobacco sticks. If you’re interested, you can try searching for it online, though to save you the trouble, there is currently no public information available. Reportedly, the materials, structure, and formula of this heated tobacco product were all independently developed by Guangdong China Tobacco.
2. New export destination
When I saw that MU+ was launched in Laos, I went back and looked up the previous heated tobacco products from China Tobacco. “Kuanzhai” was exported to South Korea, while “MC” and “MW” were exported to South Korea and Japan respectively. As we know, South Korea has LIL and Japan has IQOS, both of which are markets with a very strong heated tobacco culture. Exporting competitive products to those markets is an excellent strategic choice.
But MU+ chose Laos instead, entering the Southeast Asian market! It can be said that Guangdong China Tobacco is making a full push to open up new heated tobacco markets. After all, in Cambodia there is already a tobacco joint venture established by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, Vinatton Company, serving as a foothold. It seems they are fully prepared and determined to expand the Southeast Asian market. Laos is also widely recognized as a high-quality tobacco-growing region.
3. Long-planned R&D
While researching information about Yunnan China Tobacco’s heated tobacco products, I happened to notice that both Yunnan China Tobacco’s latest heated tobacco products and MU+ actually began development five years ago! Looking carefully at the timeline, IQOS began sales in 2014, while China Tobacco’s research into heated tobacco started before IQOS was launched. You could say they had long been preparing to compete with IQOS. After so many years of development, and only launching now, they must have made plenty of improvements along the way. It really shows that China’s R&D capabilities are powerful and forward-looking!
What are the advantages of the Huoqi GS5.0 heated tobacco device?
The Huoqi GS5.0 is a newly launched heated tobacco device from Shenzhen Huashang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Its main advantages include:
1. New real-time temperature adjustment technology, allowing you to fine-tune the temperature for a taste closer to traditional cigarettes
2. Compatible with mainstream heated tobacco sticks on the market, giving one device multiple options while reducing costs
3. Starts in 5 seconds—insert and use immediately, with no long wait
4. One charge supports about 15–20 tobacco sticks for longer-lasting use
5. Replaceable heating blade—if it breaks or gets damaged, you can simply swap in a new one
6. One-button cleaning function for quick and intelligent cleaning of the heating blade
At present, the Huoqi GS5.0 has become one of the best domestic alternatives to IQOS. Based on the information currently available alone, it is already highly anticipated. China’s heated tobacco sector has both ambition and strength. Although we still do not know when the heated tobacco market will officially open in China, when that day comes, Chinese consumers will surely have access to even better and more advanced heated tobacco products than those in other countries.
