As compact vaping devices have become increasingly popular in the e-cigarette market, they have also driven demand for nicotine salt e-liquid. With the rise of nicotine salt e-liquid, MTL atomizers, which had been "overlooked" for quite some time, have made a comeback. Fumytech seized this opportunity by launching the 22mm GOTANK MTL atomizer and the 24mm ROSE MTL atomizer. Both feature styling that fits current trends, solid build quality, and an excellent user experience. However, while they were selling well, the company revised the design and released the black-and-gold version of the ROSE MTL. Today, let’s take a look at it together.

The red-and-black version was the earlier release, while the black-and-gold version is the new colorway and includes improvements in several details. Let’s break them down one by one below.

After disassembling it, you can see that the workmanship is still beyond criticism and very satisfying. (In the images below, the black-and-gold version is on the left, and the black-and-red version is on the right.) Looking at the drip tip, the overall appearance remains basically the same, except that the black-and-gold version is slightly larger in length, diameter, and inner bore. In daily use, however, there is essentially no difference between the two, and neither will cause you to inhale condensation. As for anyone claiming this changes the "flavor," that is pure nonsense. Simple comparison of the standard and black gold versions of the Fumytech Rose atomizer From the image above, you can see that the top cap section of the black-and-gold version no longer has the original divider design.

Correspondingly, the divider inside the chamber has also been removed. The divider design helped beginners with less experience in coil building avoid spitback or e-liquid being drawn into the mouth. At the same time, the original divider did not "break up the vapor" as some self-proclaimed experts online have claimed, so the reason for this change is honestly hard to understand. That said, the curvature of the inner chamber has been adjusted slightly, though not enough to affect vapor or flavor performance.

As for airflow changes, the original five-hole design has been changed to a three-hole plus slotted opening design. (On the other side, both versions still retain three independent holes.) While this change does not create a dramatic difference when the airflow is fully open, the black-and-gold version does provide noticeably more airflow when used for a restricted direct-lung draw with a single fancy coil, resulting in a better overall experience.

At the build deck, the original round cotton ports on both sides have been changed to an open design. This undoubtedly makes coil building much easier for users who are less experienced, since they no longer need to worry about packing the cotton too tightly and causing poor wicking. (The original juice ports were already appropriately sized.) At the same time, you can also notice a very slight difference in the size of the air outlet between the two versions.

What remains the same is that both versions still perform better with high-PG e-liquid. At the same time, if you want better "flavor," it is still recommended to use e-liquid with 6mg or higher nicotine content, or high-strength nicotine salt e-liquid. As far as MTL atomizers are concerned, a stronger throat hit and better "flavor" often go hand in hand. But if some "expert" sarcastically asks whether dripping 12mg e-liquid would therefore produce even better flavor, that only shows the kind of person they are.

In practical terms, this atomizer is positioned as an MTL atomizer, so using a high-resistance A1 coil is absolutely the best choice. Keep the resistance above 1.0Ω and pair it with appropriate airflow, and you will appreciate its appeal. At the same time, its ability to work well with high-resistance fancy coils (a fancy coil is included in the box) is another major feature. That said, one more point should be made: any plain NI80 wire performs very poorly in this type of atomizer and is not recommended. Simple comparison of the standard and black gold versions of the Fumytech Rose atomizer Overall, the difference in actual user experience between the two versions is not very large. The black-and-gold version mainly optimizes ease of coil building for beginners, while the slightly enlarged airflow path also gives it better cooling and ventilation when paired with high-resistance fancy coils. Aside from the structural changes, the black-and-gold version also looks more premium and is priced a bit higher. So in the end, the choice mainly comes down to which colorway you prefer. But regardless of version, the ROSE MTL atomizer remains an excellent and very affordable product.
