Awareness of E-Cigarettes Among Young People in the UK Is Rising

According to a recent report from a research agency in the UK, it is not common for young people in the UK to start using e-cigarettes; rather, it is more prevalent among traditional cigarette consumers or those trying to quit smoking.
Since 2013, this research agency has conducted an online survey annually targeting young people aged 11 to 18 in the UK, focusing on e-cigarette usage. The most recent survey was conducted in March-April of this year. The results show that an increasing number of young people believe that using e-cigarettes is not fundamentally different from smoking traditional cigarettes. Additionally, the survey revealed that e-cigarettes with rechargeable pods and fruit flavors are particularly popular.
Data shows that currently, only 5% of young people aged 11 to 18 in the UK have never heard of e-cigarettes, compared to 30% in 2013. Furthermore, 12% of respondents stated that they have tried e-cigarettes at least once. In 2016, 19% of young people who tried smoking were tobacco product consumers, while 10% had tried e-cigarettes. Among e-cigarette users, 57% initially tried traditional cigarettes.
