E-Cigarette Manufacturers Shift Rapidly: Overseas Markets Saturated, Focus Turns to China

Summary: It is understood that overseas e-cigarette markets have become saturated, and many e-cigarette manufacturers are now turning their attention to the domestic Chinese market.

Introduction: It is understood that the overseas e-cigarette market has reached saturation, prompting many e-cigarette manufacturers to shift their focus to the domestic market. As traditional tobacco companies enter the e-cigarette space, the enforcement of smoking bans in China has intensified, making the e-cigarette industry particularly noteworthy.
According to reports from the Chinese e-cigarette news, the overseas e-cigarette market has reached saturation, leading many manufacturers to turn their attention to the domestic market. As traditional tobacco companies expand into e-cigarettes, the enforcement of smoking bans in China has intensified, drawing significant attention to the e-cigarette industry. The chairman of Jirui E-cigarettes stated that there are currently no specific laws and regulations governing e-cigarettes in China. Regarding the domestic e-cigarette industry, it is believed that aligning with international development trends is highly probable. The overseas e-cigarette sales market is gradually saturating. The effectiveness of e-cigarettes in smoking cessation is subjective. A certain e-liquid manufacturer admitted that if e-cigarettes contain nicotine, they are essentially similar to traditional cigarettes, and the cessation effect may not be significant. "To put it metaphorically, e-cigarettes and traditional cigarettes are like diluted wine and pure wine; once the amount of e-cigarette consumption reaches a certain level, it is akin to smoking traditional cigarettes." The primary sales market for e-cigarettes is in the United States, while Europe shows a favorable growth trend. It is understood that the mainstream demand in foreign markets is for blended cigarettes with milder flavors. In contrast, domestic consumers prefer roasted tobacco with a stronger taste, which aligns more closely with the current R&D technology suited to foreign consumer preferences. Initially, with limited domestic demand for e-cigarettes and strong foreign demand, domestic manufacturers turned their sights abroad. However, despite the attractiveness of foreign markets, the "cake" is ultimately limited. From an international perspective, many countries have introduced policies to regulate the e-cigarette market, and major tobacco groups have entered the e-cigarette field, impacting orders for some domestic manufacturers. According to media research, about 80% of e-cigarette manufacturers reported that the current e-cigarette business is not as easy as it used to be. Experts from Jirui stated that the control policies on e-cigarettes introduced by certain countries and regions in Europe and America are leading the industry into a cyclical downturn. Some small-scale enterprises may struggle to survive this difficult period, and there is a possibility of a reshuffle in the industry, concentrating orders in the hands of a few stronger manufacturers, with industry leaders ultimately being the beneficiaries. In the future, competition in the foreign e-cigarette market will be a contest of strength and technology. Media outlets have interviewed Mr. Liu Qiuming, chairman of Jirui E-cigarettes, on this issue. Mr. Liu stated that advanced technology in e-cigarettes will be a crucial factor for establishing a foothold in foreign markets. High-quality e-cigarettes will also promote the development of the domestic e-cigarette industry. Jirui E-cigarettes believes that the involvement of relevant giants may help improve the quality of e-cigarette products, and leveraging their existing channels will make it easier for consumers to purchase high-quality products. The development of the domestic e-cigarette market requires time accumulation. In the context of increasingly fierce competition in foreign markets, the domestic market has become a focal point for many companies. As an emerging product, the promotion of e-cigarettes requires time and the right timing. As a major e-cigarette manufacturing country, China’s domestic market is still in a stage of exploration and skepticism. Some consumers who have accepted e-cigarettes can only purchase products through e-commerce channels. Many industry insiders have expressed that the methods consumers use to obtain products may not guarantee the safety of the received products. Recently, consumers who purchased e-cigarettes online experienced explosions that posed life-threatening risks. Therefore, promoting e-cigarettes in China is a priority. As of now, there are some new signs in the domestic e-cigarette market. Jirui E-cigarettes has opened its products to the domestic market and is collaborating with relevant institutions to develop and design high-quality products more suitable for domestic users. Analysts believe that while e-cigarettes are already popular in Europe and America, significant differences in taste between overseas and domestic tobacco necessitate substantial adjustments to the flavoring formulas when entering the domestic market to better align with the smoking experience of traditional cigarettes.
