China vaping news: It has been reported that the UK government will ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors under the age of 18. On January 26, the UK government stated that it would prohibit young people under 18 from purchasing e-cigarettes. Authorities said that e-cigarettes may have adverse effects on the human body and that further medical research is necessary.
As e-cigarettes become increasingly popular, industry analysts predict that the e-cigarette market could surpass traditional cigarettes within 10 years. E-cigarettes use an atomizer to turn liquid nicotine into vapor rather than burning tobacco.
The UK’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Sally Davies, said in a statement: “We still do not know clearly what harms e-cigarettes may cause to adults, let alone to children; however, what we do know is that e-cigarettes are not risk-free.”
Davies said that e-cigarettes can produce toxic chemicals, and the concentration of liquid nicotine varies between products, which may cause “extreme harm” to the health of young people.
According to statistics from market research consultancy Euromonitor, the global e-cigarette market was estimated to exceed US$2 billion last year.
