Common Examples of Incorrect E-Cigarette Use to Help You Avoid Safety Risks
E-cigarettes are not just tools; they are a lifestyle, provided that you learn how to use and enjoy them correctly!
Recently, at Grand Central Station in New York, a person was shopping when suddenly their e-cigarette exploded in their pants pocket, causing burns to their leg and hand.
This is not the first incident of an e-cigarette explosion. So how can you use e-cigarettes correctly to avoid them becoming a safety hazard?

Firstly, e-cigarettes are primarily powered by lithium batteries, so keep them away from fire sources. Secondly, always buy e-cigarettes from reputable manufacturers that have quality certifications; otherwise, everything is just talk!!!
In addition to this major safety issue, what are some common examples of incorrect e-cigarette use?
1. Purchasing “shoddy” e-cigarette devices!
As a traditional smoker, it’s easy to try disposable e-cigarettes that resemble traditional cigarettes. While this may be a smooth transition, these e-cigarettes lack safety guarantees and have extremely low resistance, making it difficult to ensure safety for new users!
For safety reasons, it’s best to start with beginner-friendly devices, as these devices have made significant improvements in battery life, performance, and power enhancement, providing new users with a better initial experience with e-cigarettes!
2. Choosing the wrong nicotine “content”!
When smoking, the nicotine content in tobacco is the amount you intake, so there’s no need to worry! However, when using e-cigarettes, the situation is a bit more complex because you have many options: 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg, 24mg, or even higher concentrations.
Who knows which one to choose? Trying them all will only lead to disaster. Therefore, correctly selecting nicotine content is crucial for the e-cigarette experience! If you are a traditional smoker transitioning to e-cigarettes, based on past experience, choosing 6mg or 12mg is likely a mistake!
According to most traditional smokers’ “experiments,” 18mg is their minimum standard for tobacco nicotine content, which new users can try. If you still feel the nicotine is insufficient, you can increase the content to 24mg and see if it helps! However, it’s best not to go too high with nicotine content!
3. Not finding the right “flavor”
Many smokers say “taste doesn’t matter,” so they prefer to choose “cheap” options with a hint of mint that are below tobacco standards. But is this really okay?
Moreover, the biggest problem is that the price of the e-liquid you buy corresponds to the flavor experience you enjoy. Smokers transitioning to e-cigarettes are looking for a taste similar to real tobacco, not another worse “knockoff” flavor, such as some mixed flavors extracted from tobacco and mixed with artificial flavors. Additionally, if you want to try more flavors beyond tobacco, you can explore high-quality fruit and dessert flavors, which are long-term “staples” for e-cigarette enthusiasts and will give you a deeper understanding of the e-liquid experience.
4. Treating e-cigarettes like cigarettes!
When you first encounter e-cigarettes, using them in the same way as traditional cigarettes may lead you to mistakenly believe that e-cigarettes are the same as cigarettes, but they are not!
Research shows that e-cigarettes can help smokers achieve more satisfaction and pleasure over a longer duration compared to traditional cigarettes. Try to take slow puffs; a gentler approach to e-cigarettes will enhance your experience.

5. Fiddling around without understanding!
Transitioning from traditional smoking to the more fashionable and healthier e-cigarettes (vaping) may seem easy, and many smokers think they can handle e-cigarettes without any support. But, as we know, e-cigarettes are not as simple as they seem.
This is why there are so many e-cigarette groups for communication and understanding, regarding how to choose devices, how to solve hardware-related issues, and anything you want to ask can be found there! So don’t be afraid to ask questions; communication is important.
6. Not finding the “correct” PG and VG balance
You might think e-cigarettes suit you, but later find that they irritate your throat too much; the problem may lie in the PG/VG ratio of the e-liquid you choose.
High PG e-liquids have a strong “throat hit,” which many smokers may not be able to adapt to. In contrast, VG produces more vapor, making inhalation and exhalation smoother. Some smokers may prefer a 70/30 PG/VG ratio (for a stronger throat hit!). Alternatively, a more balanced ratio (50/50 PG/VG) may still be too irritating, and you might have to try e-liquids with a VG ratio of 70% or higher.
7. Being unprepared
No one wants to spend too much on e-cigarettes, right? But if you are a heavy smoker trying to quit, what will you do if you don’t have enough backup devices when your only e-cigarette is charging? The temptation to reach for a cigarette may be just a thought away. You know!
It’s advisable for heavy smokers to have a backup e-cigarette to avoid desperation during their quitting attempts or falling back into smoking! If both devices are charging, you might need to reassess your level of addiction.
8. Having unrealistic “expectations” of e-cigarettes
E-cigarettes are indeed a great smoking cessation product; although they are relatively safe, they are not a panacea. Some smokers believe e-cigarettes do not help them much, which can vary from person to person. Over-reliance on the product without a strong will to quit will render even the most effective product useless! E-cigarettes can make the quitting process less painful, but it doesn’t mean you can rely entirely on them without the determination and willpower to resist the craving for cigarettes! E-cigarettes can make quitting enjoyable, but you still need enough willpower to get through this “critical period.”
You need to understand e-cigarettes and how to use them to achieve the results you want. The reality is that e-cigarettes are more complex than cigarettes, but you still need to understand them well to transition; once you find the right way to use them, the entire quitting or switching process will be more enjoyable than you imagine!
