According to news from the International Tobacco Network, the health regulatory department of Taipei City recently announced that starting from January 1, 2017, all bus stops in Taipei will prohibit smoking. Violators of this regulation will face fines, affecting a total of 932 bus routes.

However, after the new smoking ban was introduced, penalties will not be enforced until March 1, 2017, with violators facing fines ranging from NT$2,000 (approximately US$62.24) to NT$10,000.

Additionally, the health department stated that the smoking ban around schools in Taipei has been expanded to cover 31 more schools, bringing the total number of schools with smoking bans to 267 in the city.
