This March 15 marks the 36th "International Consumer Rights Day." On this day, consumer associations across the country engage in a series of activities, culminating in the 3.15 gala that heightens the atmosphere of anti-counterfeiting! But did you know that the fight against counterfeit electronic cigarettes has been ongoing? Both manufacturers and players have been relentless in combating counterfeits, even establishing anti-counterfeit forums for electronic cigarettes!

Let's start with the manufacturers. GEEKVAPE, Youshun, and Wantofu launched a joint anti-counterfeiting operation in April 2017 with the help of local police. The target of this crackdown was the so-called "fine craftsmanship" products produced by small workshops. These counterfeit products are made with inferior materials in unsanitary production environments, then branded with logos to mislead consumers. When these substandard products cause issues, it is the users and brand owners who suffer, while the counterfeiters continue to profit without facing any consequences. The actions of these three manufacturers not only protect their brands but also create a barrier for better product experiences for vapers.   Anti-counterfeiting in the electronic cigarette industry Since the devices are being targeted for counterfeiting, we must also address the issue of e-liquids. As products that are directly inhaled, whether the e-liquids purchased are genuine has always been a concern for vapers. Some even dream about the term "custom blend oils." Take HALO e-liquid, which has been ranked first in flavor testing by the professional magazine VAPEMZ for two consecutive years, as an example. HALO has a strong brand protection awareness, printing distributor codes and production batches on each 30ml glass bottle label, with each distributor code being unique. If a "custom blend oil" is found, one can directly trace it back to the distributor using the code or batch number. Of course, this applies only to well-made "custom blend oils"; rough "trick oils" are unlikely to escape the discerning eyes of vapers.

Individual anti-counterfeiting actions are also quite common now. I previously wrote an article titled "Professional Anti-Counterfeiters Targeting Electronic Cigarette E-commerce Platforms," which discusses individual anti-counterfeiting actions. In this instance, the focus was not on the devices themselves but rather on the product promotions. Complaints mainly revolved around claims of "lung cleansing" and "smoking cessation," arguing that vape devices cannot achieve these effects. Due to the relatively short development time of electronic cigarettes, most manufacturers lack sufficient endorsements and testing reports, leading some brands to be unfairly targeted. While this may be seen as exploiting loopholes, it has indeed standardized the promotional language of electronic cigarette products.     Every March 15 is actually aimed at better promoting the day itself, and we hope that vapers can join manufacturers in saying no to counterfeit vape products! I believe that as we collectively recognize the importance of protecting consumer rights, our vaping lives will feel like March 15 every day.
