Battle of the Gods — NUAGES E-Liquid Review
I remember discussing French e-liquids with everyone before. French perfumers always have a mysterious confidence and stubbornness; no matter where you are from or what your taste is, they believe that their flavor is good and should be this way. They create their fragrances according to this belief, and if you don't like it, it just means you don't understand appreciation.
This reminds me of chefs in Changsha. When you order a dish and ask the chef if they can make it without chili, the chef might say yes, but when the dish arrives, you still find it spicy. When you ask the chef about it, they explain that their wok, which has been used for 20 years to cook Hunan cuisine, inherently carries a spicy flavor. Alright.
Without further ado, today I will review a French e-liquid from NUAGES. This series of e-liquids is named after characters from Greek mythology, and currently, only five flavors have been introduced: Aphrodite, which is specially prepared for cloud chasers, comes in a 60ml bottle with a nicotine concentration of 1.5mg, with a VG/PG ratio of 70/30. The outer packaging has clear Chinese labeling, making it look quite legitimate.
Aphrodite - Rose Lychee Flavor 7.6/10The throat hit is extremely low, and the sweetness is on the lower side. Upon inhalation, the fragrance of rose immediately follows with the aroma of lychee, blending well together. The rose scent is cold yet rich, and lychee is also a floral fruit, which theoretically should match well. However, the distinctive rose aroma overshadows the freshness of the lychee. Fortunately, the sweetness is relatively low, so after several puffs, it doesn't become cloying. As a warm lychee e-liquid, I think it's quite good.
Medusa - Green and Red Apple Flavor 7.4/10
The throat hit is extremely low, and the sweetness is moderately low. Upon inhalation, I was amazed. The warm flavor of red apple, along with a hint of ripe apple, is present. If you've had apple pie, you know this flavor doesn't dominate, but it can be distinctly tasted. The fresh apple combined with the ripe apple does not mean it's half-baked; the most peculiar part is the aftertaste, which surprisingly has a hint of fennel. Fennel? This is unexpected; nowadays, people are not playing with cinnamon anymore but have started using fennel. Well, considering it's French e-liquid, I can accept it. To be honest, fennel and ripe apple do complement each other.
Very Special Zeus - Red Fruit Mint Flavor 7/10
The throat hit is extremely low, and the sweetness is moderate, with a moderate cooling sensation. Many people want to vape refreshing e-liquids, and many want to vape cough syrup; this is outdated. Today, I want to recommend a famous traditional Chinese medicine, Yanzhiling, which has a flavor profile like this: menthol, licorice, and mint. The strong menthol aroma is notable; it’s menthol, not mint leaves, with an icy coolness akin to licorice's bittersweetness, and the aftertaste carries a faint fruit aroma, though it's hard to identify which fruit it is.
Poseidon - Refreshing Lime Flavor 7/10The throat hit is moderate, and the sweetness is moderately low. It is said to be lime flavor, but as an aspiring bartender, I am very familiar with both yellow and green limes. To be honest, this still tastes like yellow lime, with no sourness. There is a slight irritation upon inhalation, which is not unpleasant, but it lacks distinct characteristics; it's quite standard.
Hermes - Toasted Bread Flavor 7.1/10
It is said to be toasted bread flavor, with a low throat hit and moderate sweetness. This tastes like breakfast: grainy, milky, and has a hint of fermented grain aroma. To be honest, it’s quite good, but it doesn’t seem to relate much to toasted bread; aside from the fermented grain aroma, this e-liquid is quite nice for those who enjoy milky flavors. If you're hungry, a puff can provide a slight sense of fullness.
Summary
With the persistence of these French perfumers, this set of e-liquids has its merits. However, if targeting the Chinese market, I still recommend making some localized changes.
I hope everyone is satisfied with today’s review. I am writing this while serving at a bar, trying not to miss updates. Thank you all for your continued support and patience. I am Liu Sanye, who hasn't had a drink today.
