For e-cigarettes, the diversity of flavors is unmatched by traditional cigarettes. Many people who start using e-cigarettes, even those who never smoked before, are attracted by the various flavors. Taking a puff feels like sipping a soda or tasting a piece of watermelon, which is quite novel. Moreover, some e-liquids are blends of multiple flavors, making the experience of inhaling and distinguishing different tastes a significant pleasure, thus making complex flavor e-liquids very popular.
Today, I bring you two e-liquids from the American brand Cuttwood, known for its unique American-style blended flavors.【Brand Introduction】
Cuttwood, which translates to "cut wood," is a premium e-liquid brand from Irvine, California. It has risen in popularity in recent years, with its logo featuring a stylized "C" encircled by a clock-like ring, printed at a 45-degree angle on the side of the packaging, which is also one of the authenticity verification marks on its official website.
Cuttwood offers a limited selection of flavors, currently promoting only ten, adhering to a premium flavor route. The brand targets a young and diverse market, investing in racing and vapor girl showcases to create a youthful ecosystem.
【E-Liquid Packaging】Today, I will introduce two flavors from Cuttwood: Boss Reserve and Unicorn Milk, both with unique and bold names, reflecting the American penchant for dramatic expressions.
The e-liquids come with a tamper-proof seal on the cap to ensure that users receive unopened products. The seal features the Cuttwood brand and logo, which is another authenticity verification mark on its official website.
The labels on the glass bottles have a black background with white or colorful text. The front prominently displays the Cuttwood name and logo, with the flavor names Boss Reserve and Unicorn Milk clearly indicated. The bottom shows that both bottles have a capacity of 30ml. The smaller text indicates that Boss Reserve is a specialty e-liquid, while Unicorn Milk is a classic e-liquid, with Unicorn Milk highlighted in pink for distinction.
On the right, you can see a large tilted "C" logo, which is another detail for authenticity verification. The top indicates that both bottles contain 0mg of nicotine, and the bottom shows that the e-liquids are produced and packaged in California, with small print detailing the ingredients and production information.
The left side features a small print warning about safety precautions, likely to comply with strict safety regulations in the U.S.
The far left includes a barcode, production batch number, and production date, which is very standard. This is another detail listed on the official website for authenticity verification. Interestingly, Americans could simply use a security sticker, but this seems to be a cultural difference, as Zippo lighters brought back from the U.S. do not have security stickers, while domestic Zippos prominently feature a large security sticker on the front of the box to ensure visibility.
The bottle cap features a child-proof twist lock that requires some force to open, preventing accidental access by children.
The cap also includes a glass dropper for easy e-liquid dispensing.【Testing Method and Equipment】
Main Device 1: SMOK V-FIN
Atomizer 1: Veil 3.0, DIY 1.0 x 3.0 x6, dual coil, resistance 0.21Ω, working power 70W
Atomizer 2: Chess, DIY 0.32x2.5x7, single coil, resistance 1.21Ω, working power 18W
Why use two different power and resistance combinations for tasting?
Experienced vapers know that even the same e-liquid can taste different under various power and resistance combinations and different types of atomizers. Due to differences in formulation, PG/VG ratios, nicotine concentrations, and other factors, different e-liquids perform best in different environments. If one were to use the same resistance and power settings to taste all e-liquids, one might miss the unique characteristics and highlights of each e-liquid, or even drown out the flavors of good e-liquids. Therefore, equa insists on using at least two parameters and two types of atomizers to taste e-liquids to avoid inaccuracies in the evaluation.
E-liquid tasting is subjective; everyone’s experience may vary. To avoid overly artistic expressions leading to misunderstandings, I strive to use straightforward language to convey the most direct tasting impressions. If you have different opinions, feel free to leave comments for discussion.

【Boss Reserve Tasting Experience】Brand: Cuttwood (Imported from the U.S.)
Flavor: Blend (Nuts, Milk, Fruits, etc.)
VG/PG Ratio: 30 / 70 (estimated)
Nicotine: 0mg
Capacity: 30ml
This e-liquid is a light yellow color, but it appears darker in the bottle, leaning towards brown. Upon opening, a strong caramel and milk aroma is immediately noticeable, so much so that even without opening, the scent fills the room, overpowering other e-liquids.
Using the Chess atomizer (low power, high resistance), the inhaled flavor is very complex. The first impression is that it is very fragrant, but due to the blend, after several puffs, I struggled to identify the flavors. It resembles the taste of instant oatmeal with nuts soaked in milk, with the initial notes being grainy and nutty, followed by fruity and milky notes. The overall aroma is very rich, but not overly sweet, preventing it from becoming cloying.
Using the Veil atomizer (high power, low resistance), the overall tasting experience is similar to that of the Chess atomizer, still featuring grain, nut, and milk flavors. Although the vapor is larger, the sweetness is slightly less pronounced, and the overall aroma is a bit lighter, with the milky aftertaste lingering longer.
This e-liquid tastes richer with the Chess atomizer, while the Veil offers a lighter experience with a more prolonged aftertaste. Personally, I prefer the mouthfeel with the Chess atomizer.
【Unicorn Milk Tasting Experience】
Brand: Cuttwood (Imported from the U.S.)
Flavor: Blend (Strawberry, Cream, etc.)
VG/PG Ratio: 30 / 70 (estimated)
Nicotine: 0mg
Capacity: 30ml
This e-liquid is a clear liquid, and upon opening, a very typical strawberry aroma is immediately noticeable.
Using the Chess atomizer (low power, high resistance), the base flavor is also very fragrant, similar to the Boss Reserve, indicating a milk component. In the mid-palate, the sweet strawberry flavor becomes apparent, intertwined with the milk flavor, creating a very full-bodied experience. Its sweetness is not overwhelming, thus it does not become sickening.
Using the Veil atomizer (high power, low resistance), the milk flavor becomes more pronounced, enveloping the palate, while the strawberry flavor emerges in the mid-palate, offering a unique strawberry milk experience. However, it still maintains a restrained profile, avoiding the overly sweet and cloying sensation.
This e-liquid offers a better layered experience with the Chess atomizer, while the Veil allows for a more open and enjoyable flavor profile.
【Conclusion】
Both Cuttwood e-liquids leave a deep impression due to their distinct milk base flavor, yet the overall formulation is very restrained. This means that while you can enjoy a rich aroma while vaping, it does not become overwhelming, unlike some milk-flavored e-liquids that can make you feel nauseous after a few puffs. The complex flavor of Boss Reserve and the subtle strawberry notes of Unicorn Milk are both very enjoyable, leaving a lingering aftertaste that is delightful. Additionally, neither of these e-liquids contains cooling agents, providing a comfortable vaping experience suitable for all seasons.
