SMOK X-PRIV 225W Kit Review
With new technology and a constant stream of product launches, vaping devices continue to evolve and upgrade. Beyond basic e-liquid atomization, device designs are becoming more stylish, displays more advanced, and functions more comprehensive. At the sta
With the introduction of new technologies and the continuous introduction of new products, e-cigarettes are also constantly being updated and upgraded. On top of the basic functions of atomized cigarette oil, the appearance of e-cigarettes has become more and more cool, and the display has become more and more scientific. The content and functions have become more and more comprehensive. This may be a microcosm of science and technology as the primary productive force.
At the beginning of the new year, based on the launch of a series of successful models, Shenzhen Avipos Technology Co., Ltd., as the leading global manufacturer in e-cigarette manufacturing and design, has launched a comprehensively upgraded and heavy-duty product. This is today's X-PRIV in the e-cigarette evaluation room. The X-PRIV set is paired with the new TFV12 Prince atomizer. The overall structure is very slim and compact. The body with smooth mirrors around it shines brightly. The front main screen adopts a 2.5D three-dimensional arc design, which is very eye-catching. Since the iPhone X with such a big bangs can be a full-screen, it should not be a problem for the X-PRIV to swipe the full-screen concept on the front screen. From the actual experience, equipped with a 2-inch large color screen on such a slender body can bring a great experience. Compared with the representative works of past slim models, the X-PRIV has small measurements that are not inferior to previous ones, and also brings a more exaggerated large-screen display. From Alien to ProColor to today's X-PRIV, both color and size have achieved a qualitative leap in display. The back adopts an arc-shaped design that responds to the front face and is decorated with a very exquisite honeycomb pattern, which looks very classy. It also adopts a dual-electric architecture, with a maximum power of 225W, and the performance is still excellent. From workmanship to accessories, from display to performance, no matter from any perspective, the X-PRIV is like a masterpiece of slim dual-motor models, comprehensively crushing and surpassing previous series of works. Interested friends, please go into today's detailed evaluation of X-PRIV and study it in depth with equa.
[Packaging Appearance]
This time, we received a complete retail version of the packaging, which was covered with a disposable sealing film when we arrived to ensure that the products received by consumers were brand new and complete.
The front of the package is a three-dimensional embossed photo of the set. The color and content are the biggest feature of SMOK packaging. This time, the front background is printed with a freehand geometric X background to remind him of his mysterious X identity. A product introduction and packaging list are printed on the back. On the left side is the QR code downloaded from SMOK's main Steam Time social app, and on the right side is the manufacturer information and anti-counterfeiting label.
Opening the package, it can be seen that the main unit and other accessories are placed in the inner box in two layers, and are fixed by foam material, which is very stable.
Remove all packaging, and the product list obtained is: 1 X-PRIV mainframe, 1 TFV12 Prince atomizer (including 1 0.4 atomization core), 1 spare 0.12 atomization core, 1 spare glass oil bin, 1 pack of spare leak-proof rubber ring, 1 data charging cable, and 1 manual warning card qualification card.ΩΩ
It can be seen from the accessories that the X-PRIV is coming at a great pace this time. The MicroUSB upgrade charging dual-purpose cord equipped in the package is no longer an ordinary rubber cord, but is upgraded to a grid braided cord. The joints are provided with spring buffers to prevent breaking., the packaging material at the ports has also been upgraded to an alloy material, and the overall pressure is very high.
In order to protect the large panel that is fully integrated in front and back, protective films are attached to the front and back when leaving the factory. I remember that this is the first SMOK model to have this kind of treatment. Just tear off the protective film before use.
Taking out the atomizer and mainframe, the slender X-PRIV mainframe and the powerful and exaggerated TFV12 Prince atomizer have a length ratio of almost 1:1. In fact, SMOK has many small and portable atomizers, such as Tornado, TFV 8 Baby, etc. This does not seem to be a particularly coordinated forced combination. Equa analyzed that on the one hand, SMOK is eager to present the best series, on the other hand, because of the powerful output of the host of 225W, it is really too wasteful to match the small atomizer, which is not conducive to the complete experience of the user.
The measured measurements of the set have a length of 145 mm, a width of 47 mm, and a thickness of 31 mm. This measurement is quite well controlled for a dual-electric host.
In terms of the weight of the package, the actual bare metal weight was 240 grams, and the working weight with 2 VTC4 18650 batteries was 330 grams. As a dual-electric host, it is a bit oppressive.
[Nebulizer]
First, let's take a look at the newly matched TFV12 Prince atomizer. This atomizer is one of the family members of the new generation TFV12 atomizer that SMOK started to focus on last summer. It has also been evaluated in detail before. Here is a brief introduction.
The measured length is 62 mm, and the diameter of the oil bin equipped with a lantern-shaped convex glass reaches 27.5 mm and weighs 66 grams. The TFV 12 Prince unveiled today is 0.5mm smaller in diameter and 1 gram lighter in weight than several previous 28mm TFV 12 Prince sets. It seems that its lantern bin has multiple specifications.
Structurally, this atomizer continues the tradition of the TFV family and still has only five components, making it easy to use even for newcomers.
The dripping nozzle is very beautiful. It abandons the black Teflon dripping nozzle that has remained unchanged for thousands of years in the past TFV series and upgrades it to a very beautiful snake-pattern large-diameter dripping nozzle. It not only has more prominent visual effects, but also can meet the needs of large smoke.
There is a carving on the top cover to indicate the refueling and opening operation, and the workmanship is very fine. Push it in the direction of the arrow to top oil, which is a representative structural feature of the TFV family. On this basis, TFV 12 Prince has also upgraded the mis-opening button, which is very user-friendly and small details.
During assembly, first screw the atomizing core onto the base, place the glass chamber on the upper cover, and then tighten the entire atomizer, so that the glass chamber will not be broken in a hurry.
The packaging provides spare parts for a variety of wearing parts very user-friendly for long-term use.
The biggest feature of this TFV 12 Prince is that it has made a luxurious upgrade to previous TFV series atomizers in terms of capacity, volume and taste. If smokers want to learn more about this atomizer in detail, please refer to equa's atomizer section in this detailed review: "SMOK MAG 225W Pistol Set Review"——
[Appearance of X-PRIV host]
Finally, we arrived at the new luxury X-PRIV mainframe in this set. The slim model among the dual-motor models has always been the most popular model. The former champion of SMOK sales has been dominated by the slim dual-motor Alien variant for a long time. Today, this X-PRIV is also a dual-electric slim model, but also has very excellent upgrades.
Let's take a look at the measured data first. The measured measurements of the mainframe are: 88 mm long, 47 mm wide, and 31 mm thick. As a dual-electric mainframe, the measurements are very ideal.
In terms of weight, the net mainframe weight is 175 grams, and the working weight of two VTC4 18650 batteries is 265 grams. In terms of weight, the weight is slightly increased by 32 grams compared to Alien's variant. It seems that the reason needs to be found out during the disassembly process.
Judging from the front face of the X-PRIV, its figure is like a slender bar. Although it is still a rectangular box, it is already a bit close to the shape of a pole.“” The front face is designed to look like a whole screen, so the +/-button is pushed to the lower right corner, and the MicroUSB charging port is moved down relatively to the lower side.“”
Although it doesn't look as exaggerated as a whole screen as the front face, the size of this 2-inch screen is still very exaggerated on this slender small body. For reference, the diagonal length is about a one-dollar coin plus a five-cent coin. The width is slightly shorter. The size is completely enough for the use of e-cigarettes. The font is very large, so the reading experience is very ideal.
The overall surface of the screen is shallow curved, and the edges are cut in 2.5D, which is consistent with the current trend of mobile phone screens and is very fashionable. The screen material looks quite like the texture of glass, and the experience when you get started is very good. However, after actual testing, equa speculated that it should be a material similar to hardened acrylic and should not be glass. See the subsequent disassembly section for details.
The +/-keys are distributed in the hole in the lower right corner. They are made of all metal and have a good feeling of feedback when pressed.
Let's look at the back. This time, the back adopts a shape that responds to the front screen. It is also a shallow arc design. The black background has a honeycomb pattern. The surface is sealed and is also very smooth and beautiful.
The X-PRIV logo is printed on the bottom of the back. From the detailed picture below, you can see that the background also has a pearlescent paint effect with sand dots. The edges are also processed into a 2.5D arc, which is very classy.
In addition to decoration, this back plate is also a battery cover. In fact, in order to reduce the thickness of the slim models we have seen for more than a year, all use a sliding cover on the bottom. This time, the X-PRIV completely redesigned the module. The battery cover plate has become a magnetic suction type, which can be directly opened from the card slot at the bottom. Inside, it can be seen that 8 magnetic blocks attract each other to fix it. The actual measurement is very precise, there is no shaking displacement after being covered, and it absorbs very firmly and is very reliable when used.
The battery installation method has also undergone tremendous changes. The directions of the two internal batteries are the same, both top and bottom, which means that their internal circuits have been completely redesigned. If you often use the dual-motor model like equa, you know that equa is not a fuss about it. It often happens that the two batteries are installed incorrectly one in the other in the reverse, and then they go back and pick the batteries, which is very troublesome. Designs like this don't have to stare at the battery compartment.
On the left side is also the integrated large button of SMOK's flagship model. The difference is that this time the X-PRIV uses a full mirror plating paint, which is very shiny and can be used as a mirror. In fact, this caused a lot of trouble for equa when taking product photos, not pressing the watch.
No function is placed on the right side, which facilitates smooth support for the tiger's mouth when holding. The same electroplated lacquer is very shiny.
The top is a 510 interface, and the middle positive electrode is gold-plated. The elastic electrode has good adaptability and is convenient to be compatible with all 510 atomizers at hand. The negative pole is a stainless steel decorative ring extending slightly outward, which can protect the paint surface to a certain extent, yes, to a certain extent.
Due to the change in the battery cover, the bottom has no function this time, only electrical standards are printed.
Use a little force from the bottom position towards the nails to separate the back battery cover. The suction force is relatively large and the combination is very tight.
[Comparison of Slim Suits]
This time, we compare X-PRIV with two previous SMOK's iconic slim set products, Alien Alien (review point me) and ProColor (review [urlhttp://ecigm.com/thread-34003-1.html] click me [/url]). Why these two suits? Because Alien's revolutionary dual electric slim design defined a new standard for dual motor models, it quickly became SMOK's sales champion after its launch at the end of 2016. ProColor was launched last fall. Based on Alien's basically same structure, it was upgraded to a color high-definition screen for the first time and introduced the body's LED lighting design concept. It is also a quite good breakthrough. Now that the new X-PRIV has brought a new design concept, it has entered the camp of slim dual-motor models, it is naturally necessary to conduct a comprehensive comparison.
The three sets are equipped with nebulizers: Alien with TFV 8 Baby, ProColor with TFV 8 Big Baby, and today's X-PRIV with TFV 12 Prince. The nebulizers have been detailed in multiple reviews, and I won't introduce them too much today. Interested friends can refer to the comparison of the nebulizers in this review: "Comparative Evaluation of Three SMOK Stick Suits in the New Benchmarking Battle"——
Mainly to compare the mainframe, first of all, we see that the volumes of the three mainframe are very similar. The measured parameters Alien are 85 x 44 x 30 mm, ProColor is 85 x 46 x 31 mm, and X-PRIV is 88 x 47 x 31 mm. X-PRIV is in terms of length, width and height. There are slight increases in millimeter level, and the overall three dimensions are very close. Because the side of the X-PRIV is a mirror metal frame, it has a visual narrowing effect. It does not seem to be the widest of the three machines, but it seems to be the narrowest. At the same time, the X-PRIV is equipped with a much larger screen display on the same slim body. The +/-button is moved to the lower right corner, and the front also looks neat, clean and integrated.
When the lights are turned off, you can see the obvious differences between the three. The Alien has a 1-inch monochrome display, which was upgraded to a 1.2-inch color screen by ProColor. Today's X-PRIV, it has doubled to become a 2-inch color high-definition screen, and the evolution is very obvious.
Both Alien and ProColor on the back are decorated with carbon fiber stickers, but the X-PRIV is decorated with an entire surface of pearlescent shaft sealing paint. It is not obvious without comparison. The difference in grade will be apparent when the two are compared.
The sides are all integrated with large buttons, and the plated lacquer of X-PRIV is very eye-catching.
There is no placement function on the other side to provide support for holding.
The top is designed with a 510 interface tilted to one side. The X-PRIV has no interference from screws, and the overall appearance is very clean and beautiful.
X-PRIV moves the battery cover to the back, so the bottom is also very clean and tidy.
There is no harm without comparison. As the newly launched slim product, X-PRIV is far ahead of schedule in terms of overall appearance, decorative details, and ornamental materials. It is not an exaggeration to call it rolling.
[Host Function]
The functions and menu layout of X-PRIV continue the new generation of systems led by ProColor. Naturally, all mainstream functions are covered, including power, temperature control, preset and other functions common to previous SMOK high-end hosts.
As the screen is further enlarged, this time the main screen of the X-PRIV displays larger fonts and clearer details. The layout equa during standby is marked in the illustration below, and the small picture on the right shows temperature control mode. Here is a detail. The main picture is blue, while the small picture on the right is purple. This is set in the menu style settings. It does not mean that the temperature control is purple:
During operation, press the ignition button 3 times in 2 seconds to enter the menu interface. Then press the ignition button briefly to switch between mode selection (Figure ① below), smoking statistics (Figure ② below), menu display color settings (Figure ③ below), and shutdown (④). On each setting menu page, press and hold the ignition button to switch between setting options, and then use the +/-button to adjust. As in the smoking statistics in ② below, press and hold the ignition button to switch to the smoking statistics reset (Puff Clear) below, and press the +/-button to switch whether to reset to 0.
In the mode switching interface in Figure ① above, press the +/-button to switch between different working modes, which are: power mode (Figure ① below), Ti temperature control mode, Ni temperature control mode, SS temperature control mode, and memory mode. When switching, the heating wire in the upper right corner will also change differently, and the overall display is very intuitive. In the temperature control mode, long pressing the ignition button can also switch and adjust the temperature control taste power, TCR settings, etc., which is very intuitive.
The T-PRIV's large-screen color display is brighter, the fonts are enlarged and easier to read, and its decorative color rings are further deepened and enlarged to highlight the effect of the color display. The larger screen allows it to have more display space. For example, the arc below the menu area draws the menu display area, prompting the current menu, the previous menu, and the next menu.
Having said so many advantages, it's time to say something about slot: Overall, equa thought that this screen could work better. Such a large display was just for the sake of larger fonts? Especially if the menu interface is just to increase the icon display of front and rear menus? This is obviously a waste, so it is better to add some pictures, memos, game functions, etc. to make it truly play its role as a big screen.
[Host disassembly]
Since the internal structure has been redesigned, although it is relatively troublesome to disassemble, equa is still very curious to understand what changes have been made inside this time, so it does a complete disassembly. First open the battery cover and unscrew all 7 screws visible inside the battery compartment. To get these pieces:
For further disassembly, it is necessary to weld the two electrodes of the positive pole with electrochrome iron and remove the battery compartment.
Use the lifting rope to pull it out, you can remove the battery compartment, and then weld the 510 electrode with electrochrome to completely disassemble the X-PRIV into the following states:
Let's first look at the front face and back scoop. The symmetrical black main color design is a shallow arc transition, providing a good holding feel. The protected area at the screen is light brown, which to be honest has a certain impact on the display. It is speculated that this design is made to make the screen appear darker to increase the overall feel.
It can be seen from the back of both of them are made of metal alloy materials and have good strike resistance.
The frame is made of an alloy plate with a thickness of up to 2 mm, and its deformation resistance and drop resistance are presumed to be very strong. The inside and outside are electroplated lacquer, which is very bright. The integrated side ignition button cannot be directly separated. The +/-button is made of metal of the same material.
The battery compartment fixing strip is the only plastic part used to ensure insulation.
The front of the motherboard is occupied by an exaggerated large color screen. The circuit layout is very different from that of previous models. It is a newly designed circuit. The main control is located at the bottom of the screen and is invisible. From the performance point of view, it is speculated that it is consistent with ProColor, MAG, S-PRIV. A passive heat dissipation metal plate is also placed opposite the left inductor to provide heat dissipation support.
The back is designed very simply, with almost no components placed. The battery sticker is directly attached to the motherboard, the negative pole of the power supply is directly soldered to the motherboard, and the positive lead is connected to the spring electrode. This time, we couldn't see the independent flying wires for separate battery management. It was speculated that they were written directly on the board. Therefore, the directions of the two batteries were also facing one side, giving me a thumbs for this circuit design!
From this angle, we can see that the key lead plate is directly connected to the main board in the L-shape, and the white 510 electrode wire and the inductor next to it are very close to the negative pole of the power supply. The designer creatively used the separator of the battery compartment to insulate and separate it, which can be said to make the internal space used to the extreme.
From the side, the overall thickness of the X-PRIV motherboard has been greatly reduced this time. The height of the front is determined by the MicroUSB interface. It extends outward to the front face without causing a big problem, so the overall thickness is controlled very well.
Dismantling summary, overall, the X-PRIV has made a very large design upgrade this time. Its internal circuitry has completely refreshed the design of previous SMOK dual-electric hosts, such as no longer seeing battery management flying wires, battery alignment in the same direction, etc. The internal space is very fully utilized, which also allows the screen to be enlarged without adding additional host space. SMOK designers have been working hard and manually likes it! Inside the X-PRIV, we have also seen the application of a large number of metal parts. In addition to the main frame, the front and rear faces are also made of quite thick alloy materials, so its durability will be relatively reliable, but it also brings a slight weight increase.
[Host power curve output test]
For actual use, the power output depends on the amount of smoke and taste experience. Therefore, equa uses a current-voltage power meter in series and parallel it on the electrode to directly measure the output power, and uses a TTL-USB communication module to upload real-time data to the computer, intercept its relevant measurement data, and make a graph, so that its power output is more digital.
Let's first look at the output of 225W. equa used a 0.13 battery and two fully charged VTC4 batteries to test, and successfully obtained a maximum power output of 227W. Due to the impact of DC discharge, the power in the after-range has a downward trend, but the 10-second test interval (10 seconds is the safety protection period of the host) can get an average power output of 209W, which basically conforms to the positioning of 225W power.
At the output of 180W, the output also showed a slow decline in the later period, from the initial 182W to the end of 162W, and the average output in 10 seconds was 171W.
At 150W, it has almost the same output method, and it is the same output style of raising first and then suppressing.
Test summary: The output of SMOK's X-PRIV mainframe still takes into account the user's instantaneous experience of ignition and use, and has been adjusted accordingly for this usage habit. Normally, the smoking ignition time is within 2 seconds, so we can see that in the first 2 seconds of output, it shows a very direct and slightly higher output than the nominal value, and then there is a slight decline in the subsequent period. This adjustment is in line with the styles of previously launched consoles such as SMOK ProColor and MAG. There is reason to believe that a similar output scheme is probably adopted.
[Experience]
The X-PRIV is also designed for a dual-electric slimming model. It is only 2mm different from SMOK's star model Alien shaped measurements, so familiar friends will easily understand the feel and experience of this X-PRIV. At the same time, because the front and rear faces of the X-PRIV adopt a curved transition, and the edges are also very round, it makes its holding experience very comfortable. Whether it is held forward or reverse, the ignition is very easy. In terms of weight, due to the introduction of a large number of metal parts, it has increased slightly compared to Alien. However, the weight of the two 18650 batteries is there, and I believe this will not be a big problem.
This new set, paired with the TFV12 Prince atomizer, can bring a very good smoke experience. The TFV12 Prince atomizer has a powerful atomizing core. 3ml of extreme moisturizing oil can bring a very large contact area between smoke and oil. Therefore, under appropriate working power, very violent smoke can be atomized. The finished core can also be used to practice smoke rings. The maximum working power of the host of 225W also brings a very powerful output, and the overall package is very good.
If you don't use a set atomizer, it is completely feasible to use a single host with other atomizers. Equa especially likes to use the X-PRIV with a small oil-dripping atomizer such as a veil, which can further shorten the size of the set and be very convenient to use. 225W power output, double, four-and eight-engine coils, are all a problem.
If combined with its exaggerated large screen on the front and the appearance brought by fine workmanship, it is a very dignified thing to use it outside. However, everything has two sides. For example, the border of the mirror is very shiny when used. However, this is completely a fingerprint collector. The effect is exactly the same as holding a mirror with bare hands, and the surface is also prone to small scratches. This is an unavoidable small problem with this kind of mirror material. It needs to be wiped frequently to keep it bright. However, no matter what, if you place it quietly on the table, the shiny appearance from a distance will always make people look sideways.
[Summary]
With its newly upgraded large screen on the front, a fine honeycomb bottom plate on the back, a shiny appearance of the surrounding mirrors, a newly designed internal circuit, and an overall fine detail processing, the X-PRIV has to be said to be a dual electric fiber such as Alien or ProColor. The fully blossomed upgraded version of the smart model can crush a number of machines in the past like a chariot in terms of external appearance and internal design. It is more like a heavyweight product that SMOK has worked hard in two years. I believe it will achieve quite good market response in the future. If you have sufficient budget on hand and buy the new rather than the old, it is recommended to give priority to this fully blooming X-PRIV!# p#pagination title #e#
