Sharing My Experience with RELX E-Cigarettes

How popular are e-cigarettes? As the first investment windfall of 2019, ten e-cigarette projects completed financing as early as 2018, including IDG, Zhenge Fund, and Source Code Capital. Today, we will evaluate one of these ten e-cigarette projects, a brand called RELX. Founded in January 2018, RELX secured its first round of financing of 38 million yuan from Source Code Capital and IDG Capital in June of the same year, and in 2019, it raised over 100 million USD in foreign financing. Within just one year of its establishment, the brand was valued at 300 million USD. Speaking of RELX e-cigarettes, I must admire their marketing ability; in just one year, they have become the top-selling e-cigarette brand on major domestic e-commerce platforms. Out of curiosity, I recently purchased a set for 300 yuan, and now I would like to share my experience with everyone.

When I received the set, it was larger than I expected. The white packaging design looks very upscale, giving me the feeling of buying an Apple phone. As shown in the picture, the set includes a vape pen, two pods (one mint flavor and one classic tobacco flavor), a USB charging cable with an Android interface, and a user manual.

Design of RELX e-cigarettes
 
The vape pen is made of aluminum alloy, so it feels good in hand, is lightweight, and doesn't feel bulky in my pocket. It is easy to use, and with the automatic inhalation design, you can simply inhale to use it. The device has an LED light that lights up when you inhale, and below the LED light is the RELX logo. Honestly, the silk screen effect of this logo is quite good and does not seem like it will fade after a year of use. The bottom of the vape pen has a charging port that uses an Android interface, meaning it can be charged with an Android phone charging cable. However, one downside is that there is slight wobbling between the pod and the device connection.

The vape pen comes in five colors: black, gray, blue, pink, and red, with a recently released "fairy blue". Personally, I prefer the blue color.

Pods

The pods have a fully sealed design, so the e-liquid is pre-filled at the factory. For those looking to quit smoking, this saves a lot of hassle as you don't need to buy e-liquid separately. The atomization core used in the pods is from FEELM, a top domestic atomization core technology brand. It is said that this technology brand is so impressive that most small e-cigarettes in the country use their technology, ensuring a high degree of flavor restoration.

Flavors of RELX e-cigarette pods

As for the flavors of the pods, the mint and classic tobacco flavors in the set both have a nicotine content of 50mg. If you have never smoked before, you might find these flavors a bit harsh at first. However, for smokers, they do provide a satisfying nicotine hit. In addition to the two default flavors in the set, they also sell other flavors separately, such as blueberry, mango, lemon, and green bean.

Blueberry flavor: I have tried blueberry flavors from other e-cigarette brands, and they often taste too strong, possibly due to high flavoring content. RELX's blueberry flavor has a nicotine content of 30mg and is quite good overall, with a high degree of flavor restoration.
 
Mango flavor: Among fruits, I prefer mango over watermelon, banana, and apple, so I have high expectations for the mango flavor pods. RELX's mango flavor has a nicotine content of 30mg, but I don't think it is the best because I previously tried a mango flavor from the VFOLK brand that had an incredibly high degree of flavor restoration.

Lemon flavor: Speaking of lemon, my fifth lower tooth involuntarily twitches three times. Compared to white vinegar, I find lemon to be the most sour food in my mind. RELX's lemon flavor also has a nicotine content of 30mg, and because it is mixed with tea flavor, it is not as sour as I imagined.
 
Green bean flavor: Having eaten green bean popsicles, I have a special fondness for RELX's 30mg nicotine green bean flavor. Its green bean flavor restoration is superb, accompanied by a hint of mint, making it refreshing on a hot summer day (a bit exaggerated).

Additionally, it is worth mentioning its battery life. The 350mAh built-in battery can last for about two days for someone like me who smokes a pack a day. I recommend charging it for an hour before using it.

Finally, here are the pros and cons of the RELX e-cigarette summarized:

Pros: Lightweight, easy to use, strong battery life, and produces a good amount of vapor, making it a decent alternative to smoking.

Cons: There is slight wobbling in the connection between the device and the pod, and the number of flavors in the set is limited.
