Vietnam has tightened controls on vaping devices and heated tobacco products under newly issued Decree No. 371, raising fines and expanding enforcement powers. Anyone found using vaping devices or heated tobacco products will now face fines of 3 million to 5 million Vietnamese dong (about US$114 to US$190), and authorities will have the power to confiscate and destroy these products.
The rules also penalize those who allow the use of vaping devices or heated tobacco products on premises they own or manage. Individuals who provide a place for others to use vaping devices or heated tobacco products will be fined 5 million to 10 million Vietnamese dong (about US$190 to US$380), while organizations may face fines of up to 20 million Vietnamese dong (about US$761). Officials said the measures are intended to strengthen oversight as alternative tobacco products spread rapidly, especially among young people.
