According to Euractiv, Italian Health Minister Orazio Schillaci announced new anti-smoking measures aimed at preventing smoking and achieving a “smoke-free generation.”

Schillaci said, “Measures must be taken to ensure the highest possible level of health protection for all citizens. This is a fundamental individual right and in the interest of the community.”

Indoor smoking rooms will be banned, and the ban on smoking in open-air الأماكن when minors and pregnant women are present will be extended.

E-cigarettes and heated tobacco products will also be included in the ban, given the “growing spread of new products on the market and the increasing evidence that they may have harmful effects on health.” Plans are also in place to extend the cigarette advertising ban to new nicotine-containing products.

Schillaci said, “The goal of this process is to ensure that the various overlapping interests related to tobacco products, including those involving economic ministries, do not take precedence over health protection.”
