A Scottish legislator wants to ban the public display of e-cigarettes in retail stores. Scottish Greens MSP Gillian Mackay hopes retailers will treat them like cigarettes and hide them away.

"This has gone beyond the days of smoking behind the bike shed—this is a multi-million dollar industry that is leading the nation's health towards disaster," Mackay said. "This is a ticking time bomb, and no one, including myself, should be asked to accept this risk before we know more."

According to the Daily Record, she has already written to stores and e-cigarette manufacturers before submitting her campaign to the Scottish Parliament.

Mackay, the Green Party's health spokesperson, stated that there is growing concern about the increasing number of minors being attracted to products through "deliberate sweet strategies."

She is calling on retailers to lead by example, urging them to hide the products.
