According to ABS-CBN News, the Philippines Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will begin public consultations today on the implementation rules and regulations (IRR) for the country's new e-cigarette law.

DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo stated: "Private stakeholders interested in the formulation of the IRR will be included, and we will consider all inputs or comments sent in."
The Philippines' regulation of vaporized nicotine products governs the import, manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of e-cigarette products. Among other measures, it also lowers the legal age for e-cigarettes from 21 to 18.
The DTI's task is to formulate the IRR after the regulation of e-cigarettes was transferred from the Food and Drug Administration.
The proposal was submitted to the Presidential Office on June 24, just days before former President Rodrigo Duterte stepped down. Since the executive branch did not take action within 30 days, the proposed legislation lapsed in July.
