According to Europol, Polish authorities have arrested an organized crime group involved in the production of illegal cigarettes.

On July 27, over 100 officers from the Polish Border Guard conducted searches across various locations in the Masovian Voivodeship. An illegal factory was seized, and 16 suspects were charged with involvement in this illegal tobacco activity. The leader of the criminal organization was among those arrested.<\/div>

Polish authorities seized over 1.6 million counterfeit cigarettes on-site, along with 13 tons of tobacco that could be used to produce another 13 million cigarettes. The estimated tax loss for the Polish Ministry of Finance is around 3.8 million euros (4.5 million dollars). <\/span><\/div>

The factory's estimated production capacity was about 1 million cigarettes per day. The counterfeit cigarettes were primarily destined for the UK and Germany, with a value of up to 9.7 million euros.<\/div>
